REVIT_Usage of Collabrate tool_Week 6
1) Open an architectural template. Using the Manage tab set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
Aim. To open an architectural template and use the Manage tab to set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
Commands Used:
- Open
- Save As
- Grids
- Manage
- Shared Coordinates
Procedure:
- Open an Architectural Template
- Save the Project using SaveAs
- Go to Architectural tab and select Grids
- Create a horizontal and vertical grid
- Go to Project location in manage tab and select specify coordinates of points
- Specify shared coordinates as 0 for both grids and set project base point

Result: Opening an architectural template and using the Manage tab to set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project is done.
2) Open another new file but with a structural template. Using manage tab set project parameters the same as the architectural model. Copy the parameters from the architectural model to the structural template or enter the parameters manually into the structural model
Aim: To open an Strucutral template and use the Manage tab to set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project
Commands Used:
- Open
- Save As
- Grids
- Manage
- Shared Coordinates
Procedure:
- Open structural Template
- Save the Project using SaveAs
- Go to structural tab and select Grids
- Create a horizontal and vertical grid
- Go to Project location in manage tab and select specify coordinates of points
- Specify shared coordinates as 0' for both grids and set project base point

Result: Opening an structural template and using the Manage tab to set project base point and project shared coordinates for the project is done.
3) Re-open the architectural model. Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model ( enabling simultaneous working on the model )
Aim: To re-open the architectural model and Use the tools under the Collaborate tab make the architectural model a central model ( enabling simultaneous working on the model )
Commands Used:
- Open
- Collaborate tab
- Collaborate in cloud
Procedure:
- Re open the Architectural model saved before
- Go to collaborate tab
- Select Collaborate in cloud
- Choose within your network and click ok

Result: Re-opening the architectural model and Using the tools under the Collaborate tab to make the architectural model a central model is done
4) Create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project similar to the task done in Week 2
Aim: To create the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project
Commands Used:
- Open
- Architecture Tab
- Grids
Procedure:
- Re open the Architectural model saved before
- Go to Architecture Tab
- Select Grids
- Place grids at some distance parallel to each other in both Longitudinal and Transverse pattern
Result: creating the Grids Longitudinal and Transverse pattern for the project is done.
5) Synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
Aim: To synchronize the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model.
Commands Used:
- Collaborate tab
- Synchronize with central
- Synchronize and modify settings
Procedure:
- Go to Collaborate tab
- Select Synchronize with central drop down menu
- Click on Synchronize and modify settings
- Then click ok
Result: Synchronizing the changes from the local copy to the central file of the architectural model is done.
6) Open the structural model and using the collaborate tools to save the model as a central file.
Aim: To open the structural model and Use the tools under the Collaborate tab make it a central model
Commands Used:
- Open
- Collaborate tab
- Collaborate in cloud
Procedure:
- Re open the structural model saved before
- Go to collaborate tab
- Select Collaborate in cloud
- Choose within your network and click ok

Result: Opening the structural model and Using the tools under the Collaborate tab make it a central model is done.
7) Under the Collaborate tab, select the grids and levels from the architectural model, and using Copy Monitor try to copy the grids to the structural model. See what happens when the copy monitored grid is moved around in the structural model
Aim: Using Copy Monitor, try to copy the grids to the structural model from Architectural model.
Commands Used:
- Collaborate
- Copy Monitor
- Select Link
- Copy
Procedure:
- Go to Collaborate tab
- Select Copy Monitor
- Click on select link to link structural model
- Select grids and select copy and click on finish
- Open structural model to see copied elements

Result: Copying the grids to the structural model from Architectural model using Copy Monitor is Done.
8) Create another new file with a construction template. Save the new file as a central model. This file will include both architectural and structural model. Under the manage tab, Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files. Save the file and close all the files.
Aim: To create another new file with a construction template, Save as a central model (include both architectural and structural model)
Commands Used:
- Open
- Save As
- Manage
- Manage links
- Save
- Close
Procedure:
- Open Construction Template
- Save the Project using SaveAs as central model
- Go to Manage tab
- Click manage links to link both architectural and structural files
- Add both architectural and structural files and click ok
- Both the files open in combined project

Result: Creating new file with a construction template and Saving as a central model is done.
9) Are the grids from structural and architectural model matching in the construction template created? If yes the model is set up for project 2. If not work on the shared parameters and linking options under Manage links
( Hint: origin to origin, by shared coordinates or by project base point to base point ) to link the models in an appropriate manner
Aim: To check whether grids with same coordinates coinciding each other in combined model.
Commands Used:
- Open
- Project location
- Coordinates(aquire coordinates)
- Position(relocate position)
Procedure:
- Oen the previously created construction model(combined)
- Go to Project location
- Select aquired coordinates and click on both architectural ans structural grids
- Now, select relocate position
- Click on intersection points of both grids
- grids overlap each other at junction

Result: Grids with same coordinates coinciding each other in combined model is shown.
10) List a flow chart of a project tree set up in terms of Construction model, Architecture & Structure model, in this exercise and understand how many people can work on the same project using Revit simultaneously
Ans:
Flow chart :
Three persons can work at the same time, one in architectural, other in structural and another in constructional model.
