Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

Report:

INTRODUCTION:

SolidWorks is computer-aided design software owned by Dassault System. It uses the principle of parametric design and generates three kinds of interconnected files: the part, the assembly, and the drawing. Therefore, any modification to one of these three files will be reflected in the other two.

Objective:

The main objectives of this project are:

  • To create parts of American Chopper.
  • To assemble the parts created.

Design Approach:

TOOLS USED IN YACHT MODELING

  • PLANE: Here the section view of the model is to be sketched.
  • SKETCH: Sketch is a 2-dimensional representation of a model. In these different types of entities are used like circle, line, rectangle, spline, etc.
  • SMART DIMENSION: This is used to give the dimensions to a specific part to obtain the desired model.
  • FILLET: It provides round shape at corners edges.
  • CHAMFER: It provides sloping edges at corners.
  • EXTRUDE SURFACE: This is used to get pre surface on another plane.
  • REVOLVE SURFACE: This is used to revolve the sketch with the reference of axis or lines in the surface form.
  • SWEPT SURFACE: It proved a surface by closed profile along an open and closed path.
  • OFFSET SURFACE: It is used to provide appropriate tolerance.
  • EXTEND SURFACE: This tool is used to extend the surface.
  • FILLED SURFACE: Used to fill the empty surface.
  • CONVERT ENTITIES: Used to convert a line into active.
  • EXTRUDE CUT: Used to remove materials from the solid body.
  • SWEPT BOSS/BASE: It proved a solid body by closed profile along an open and closed path.
  • PATTERN: It features the objects in a particular direction or path.
  • PROJECTED CURVE: It combines two 2D continuous curves into a 3D curve.
  • TRIM: It is used to cut the extra line of the surface.
  • APPEARANCE: Using this can get a different look & apply different materials.
  • SHELL: The shell tool hollows out a part.

Parts Modelled:

  • Propeller
  • Radar
  • Hull
  • Garage door
  • Rear seat
  • Front seat
  • Middle seat
  • Superstructure
  • Radar mast

PROPELLER

Its rotary motion through the air creates a different in pressure between the front and back surfaces of its blades. It provides thrust so that the yacht moves easily.

RADAR

It is used to detect the objects position signals etc. relative to the position of the yacht.

HULL

It is the watertight enclosure of the ship, which protects the goods carrying area, machinery, and accommodation spaces of the ship from the weather, flooding and structural damage.

It acts as a base part of yacht by which other parts are designed or modified.

GARAGE DOOR:

It provides safety from bad weather, moisture etc.

SEAT

It is used for the purpose of rest. It is also an important part of the superstructure.

There are 3 types of seats in the Yacht, they are:

  • Front Seat

  • Rear Seat

  • Middle Seat

SUPERSTRUCTURE

A superstructure is an upward extension of the yacht. It is like a head & gives a pretty good look and mounted over the hull. By the base isolation whole yacht can be protected from the severe damage. It is the top most part of the yacht.

RADAR MAST

It is the complete assembly of the radar system which protects from the harmful things.

ASSEMBLY OF YACHT

In this the parts modelled are assembled into one.

Initially hull part is made fixed and remaining parts are added one by one to form a Yacht.
