Project on Concrete Mix Design for various grades of Concrete
Concrete Mix Design for M35 grade of Concrete with fly Ash:
Assuption : Pumpable Concrete ( Slump 100 ) , Angular 20mm Agreegate with no moisture , No Admixture , Condition : Very Severe , Zone II fine aggregate etc....
i) Targeted Mean Strength ( From IS 10262 ) = 35 + 1.65*5 = 43.25 KN/Sq.mt.
ii) W/C Ration and Minimum Cement Content ( Very Severe ) from IS : 456 = 0.45 and Minimum Cement= 340Kg
iii) Water Content for 20mm nominal agreegate : 186 Kg . As Slump is 100 , 6% is to be addded = 197 Kg
iv) Considering W/C ratio as 0.4 ( which is less than 0.45 ) , the Cement content = 197 / 0.4 = 492 Kg.
v) We are adding no Admixture.
vi) Considering 30% Fly Ash , Total fly ash = 147 kg
vii ) Therefore Cement = 492-147 = 375 Kg
Now in 1 Cum Concrete :
Volume of Cement = 375 / 3.15 * 1/1000 = 0.119 Cum
Volume of water = 197/1 * 1/1000 = 0.197 Cum
Voume of Fly Ash = 147/2.2 * 1/1000 = 0.067 cum
Therefore Volume of Aggregate = 1- ( 0.119 + 0.197 + 0.067 ) = 0.617 cum
Mass of Coarse Agreegate = 0.617 * 0.62 ( Zone II ) * 2.74 *1000 = 1048 KG
Mass of Fine Agreegate : 0.617 * 0.38 *2.74 *1000 = 642 Kg.
Therefore the Mix Propertion M35 with Fly Ash: Cement : 375 Kg , Fly Ash : 147 Kg , water :197 Kg or Liters , Sand ( fine Aggregate ) : 642 Kg , Coarse Aggregate : 1048 Kg.
Ans 2 : Mix Design for M50 Grade of Concrete with above Assuption as M35 and no Fly ash and No Admixture ::::::
i) Targeted Mean strength = 50 + 1.65*5 = 58.25KN / Sq.mt
ii) For Very Severe Environment condition from IS 456 , W/C Ratio = 0.45 and Minimum Cement = 340 Kg.
iii ) For nominal aggregate , water content = 186 Liters but for Slump 100 , Water = 197 Kg.
iv ) Considering W/C ration as 0.4 , Maximum Cement = 197/0.4 = 492 Kg.
For 1 Cum of Concrete :::::
Volume of Cement : 492/3.15 * 1/1000 = 0.156 Cum
Voulme of Water : 197/1 * 1/1000 = 0.197
Volume of Aggregate = 1- ( 0.156 + 0.197 ) = 0.647 Cum
Mass of Coarse Aggregate = 0.647 *0.62* 2.74 *1000 = 1087 Kg
Mass of Fine Aggregate = 0.647 * 0.38 *2.74 * 1000 = 673 Kg
Therefore the Propertion for M50 : Cement :492Kg , water :197 Liters , Fine Aggregate : 673 Kg, Coarse Aggregate : 1087 Kg
