Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1. Major components :

  • Battery
  • Generator
  • Ignition coil
  • Starter
  • Distributer
  • Current and Voltage breaker
  • Ignition switch
  • Foot selector switch
  • Juncion block
  • Breaker
  • Fuel Guage
  • Lights
  • Fuse

2.

Battery: It is one of the main component of the Automotive electric system. It supply electric energy to the components and also it stores the electric energy.

Generator: Electric generator it is also called alternator. It converts mechanical energy into electric energy and this energy is strored in the battery. It operated or runs by the engine by means of pully and chain.

Ignition coil: It is the coil which is used in automotive ignition system. It consists of primary and secondary windings. The ignition will not happens by using the battery voltage we need more voltage to ignite or produce spark in spark plug. To step up the votage to the required level Ignition coil is used.

3.

For a 10A load 15A fuse is prefered becouse fuse A is always just above or bigger than the load. After 10A the available or standerd fuse rate is 15A.

4.

Load = 500W

Assume working hour is 3hrs

then, The required power = 500 x 3

= 1500 kWhr

Assume the voltage is 12V

capacity of the battery = 1500/12

= 125 Ah

Therfore, 12V 150Ah battery is recommended.

5. Two horns are parallel to each other and two headlights are parallel to each other. Becouse to supply equal voltage

6. Ammeter and ignition coil are in series. In series connection the current (Ampr) will be constant so we can read the accurate current in ammeter.
