Challenge

Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1) Battery, generator, ignition coil, distributor, voltage regulator, starter motor, fuse, ammeter, horn, headlamps and parking lamps, switches, junction block

2) 1.Battery:

Purpose: Provides the initial electrical power to start the engine and operate electrical components.

Working: stores energy chemically and delivers it as direct current.

2.Voltage regulator :

Purpose: Ensures the generator produces a consistent voltage to charge the battery and power component.

Working: Monitors system voltage and adjusts the generator's output by controlling the field current.

3.Ignition coil:

Purpose: Converts the 12V battery voltage to a higher voltage needed to produce a spark in the spark plugs.

Working: Works as a transformer with primary and secondary windings to step up voltage.

3) Fuse rating:

For a total loas of 10A, the fuse rating should be a slightly higher to prevent tripping.

Select a fuse rated at 125% of the load

Fuse rating =10*1.25=12.5 A.

4) In 500W is the load ,The voltage and capacity of battery is

I=P/V=500 W/12 v=41.67 A

Required capacity=I * Time=41.67 * 2 =83.34 Ah

5) Parallel connections:

Headlights and parking lamps.

Reason: Parallel connections ensure that each component receives the same voltage (12V). If one element fails, the other can still operate.

6) Series connections:

Ignition coil and distributors.

Reason: Series connections ensure the current flows sequentially through the components, Stepping up voltage and distributing it.
