Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
1.Identify each of the major elements in the above automotive wiring diagram.
Battery
Starter
Generator
Ammeter
Ignition switch
Ignition coil
Distributor
Current and voltage regulator
Dome light
Plate light
Beam light
Horn button
Tail stop....
2.Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly
Attached below....
3.If the total load is 10A from battery, what should be the fuse rating.
GIVEN:
I=10A
V=12V
WKT
P=V*I
P=10*12
P=120WATTS
FUSE RATING = POWER/VOLTAGE*1.25
FUSE RATING=120/12*1.25=10*1.25
FUSE RATING=12.5A.
4.If 500W is the load, what is the voltage and capacity of battery you recommend?
GIVEN
P=500WATT
V=12V.
TIME(h)=1h
Wh=500*1=500
WKT(CAPACITY OF BATTERY)
Ah=Wh/V=500/12=41.66Ah
FOR TIME(h) = 2h.
CAPACITY OF BATTERY = 500*2=1000/12=83.33Ah.
5.Identify any two elements which are connected parallel to each other. Why they are connected in parallel
a.HORN
b.DOME LIGHT
They were connected in parallel in wiring diagram,
the positive side is connected positive of the battery and the negative side is connected negative of the battery.
by this it increase the run time while maintainig the voltage where voltage remains the same in individuals.
By parallel connection when there is short circuit happens we can replace the light which as affected,if it connected in series the entire circuit(lights) need to replaced,so this is the advantage.
6.Identify any two elements which are connected in series. Why they are connected in series
a.BATTERY AND STARTER
b.BATTERY AND AMMETER
Battery and starter are connected in series because the starter needs the direct and high current from the battery.And battery and ammeter also connected in series to measure the current from the battery,in series combination current will be constant.
