Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit
1:Develop a model of a linear actuator consisting of a DC motor driving a worm gear which in turn drives a lead screw to produce linear motion.
ANSWER: major elements are:
STARTER,BATTERY,GENERATOR,BREAKER,CURRENT AND VOLTAGE REGULATOR,DISTRIBUTOR,GAS TANK UNIT,AMMETER,IGNITION-COIL,FUSE.
2:Explain the purpose and working of any three elements briefly.
ANSWER:
1.GENERATOR:
A generator is a device that converts mechanical energy or chemical energy into electric energy for use in an external circuit. Generators are machines that produce electric energy in the form of voltage and current. They produce electricity based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. There are two fundamental types of generators known as AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) generators. While the technique of producing electricity is the same in both types, AC and DC power become different in terms of their applications – the way in which loads receive electric power.
2.BATTERY:
A battery can be defined as an electrochemical device (consisting of one or more electrochemical cells) which can be charged with an electric current and discharged whenever required. Batteries are usually devices that are made up of multiple electrochemical cells that are connected to external inputs and outputs. Batteries are widely employed in order to power small electric devices such as mobile phones, remotes, and flashlights. Historically, the ‘term’ battery has always been used in order to refer to the combination of two or more electrochemical cells. However, the modern definition of the term ‘battery’ is believed to accommodate devices that only feature a single cell.
3. FUSE:
A fuse is an electrical safety device that operates to provide over current protection of an electrical circuit. Its essential component is a metal wire or strip that melts when too much current flows through it, thereby stopping or interrupting the current. It is a sacrificial device; once a fuse has operated it is an open circuit, and must be replaced or rewired, depending on its type.
