Challenge

Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1) Major Elements are 1) Battery 2)Ammeter 3) Starter 4) Fuse 5) Generator 6) Voltage Regulator etc.

2) Battery – The battery is Power Source and Supply Power to components

Starter – An electric device used to control the starting and stopping of the Motor

Fuse – fuse is used to protect electrical equipment from High Load current and short circuit

Fuel Gauge - Used to indicate the level of the fuel in the tank.

3) Current (I) Fuse > Current (I) Load

>10 Amp

Current (I) Fuse=125% of Load Rating

= 12.5 Amp

4) Give: 500 Watt, 12V Battery

P = V X I

I = P/V

= 500/12

= 41.66 Amp

Capacity = Ah

=41.66 Ah

5) Dome Light, Sealed Beam, Horn, Parking Light etc are Connected in Parallel

  • In parallel Connection one is Independent of other
  • Current flow is Divided into all Parallel connected components
  • For example Voltmeter is connected in Parallel because Voltage is the same in a Parallel connection.

6) Ammeter, Battery, starter, Fuse Distributor etc are Connected in series

  • In a series connection one component is dependent on other components so they are in series
  • Current flow is same in all Series connected components
  • For example Ammeter is connected in a Series because the current is the same in a series connection.
