Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1)Major Elements in automotive wiring diagram are

  • Ammeter
  • Battery
  • current and voltage Regulator
  • Fuse
  • Fuel gauge sensor
  • Tail Light
  • Plate Light
  • Ignition Switch
  • Instrument Lights

2) Battery:It is used to power all the electrical components that are present in the car

It gets charged during the running of the car

Responsible for generating spark for starting the engine i.e combustion process

It powers the wiper motors and sensors to give the driver the required inputs to take actions during driving

Fuse: It is a protection device which blows itself out when excessive short circuit passes through it

It protects the circuit components from surges in current and prevents the risk of running a fire

Normally components are rated below fuse rating for additional safety

Instrument Lights: These lights take input from sensors and display the status on the dashboard

The instrument lights are connected with sensors on the desired components in series to receive data on the dashboard

3)Fuse rating should be a little bit higher than the load current for safety and proper functioning,it can be 15A

4)Total load =500W

Voltage = 12V

Amperage =500/12 =41.66A

if we assume time as 3 hrs

Capacity =41.66*3=125Ah

5)Tail Stop and Plate light are in parallel if the plate light goes off, the tail stop light still keeps working

6)Instrument lights and gauges are in series because current has to pass through both to give us a signal in a dashboard,if there is a shortage or fault in the gauge instrument light won't glow
