Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1) Major elements in the diagram are Battery, breaker,Generator, starter, foot selection switch etc.

2)The main 3 elements are Battery,Generator and breaker

Battery: Batteries and similar devices accept, store, and release electricity on demand. Batteries use chemistry, in the form of chemical potential, to store energy, just like many other everyday energy sources. For example, logs store energy in their chemical bonds until burning converts the energy to heat.

Generator: An alternator is a type of electric generator used in modern automobiles to charge the battery and to power the electrical system when its engine is running.

Breaker: A circuit breaker is an electrical switch designed to protect an electrical circuit from damage caused by overcurrent/overload or short circuit. Its basic function is to interrupt current flow after protective relays detect a fault.

3) The rating of a fuse is the maximum amount of electric current it can allow through, before it melts. So, when a fuse is rated 10 A, it melts if the current exceeds 10 A, i.e. greater than 10 A.

4)Watt hours is a little more precise as it takes into consideration the voltage that the battery is running at whereas amp hours does not. 500 watt hours is a standard battery size. This equates to 14 amp hours at 36 volts or 10.5 amp hours at 48 volt.

5)Tail stop and horn button are connected in parallel because a set of batteries are said to be connected in parallel when the positive terminals are connected together, and similarly, the negative terminals of these cells are connected.

6)Distributor and scaled beam are connected in series because a set of batteries is said to be connected in series when the positive terminal of one cell is connected to the negative terminal of the succeeding cell.
