Project 9 - concept Design.

the project is about MUV (multi utility vehicle)
a MUV is mainly used for utility, sport and Load carrying capacity.
the aim of the design is to design a modular utility vehicle so that it can do all the things mentioned above.
in utility cars there are various sub divisions
eg.- SUV, trucks, vans and Crossovers
the design will mainly focus on the utility part rather than the sporty kind of an appeal

desk research

Multi Utility vehicles are mostly designed with an intent of carrying load, so they are built though.
the vehicle has larger wheels and longer wheel base. the vehicle will be with the ratio 70:30.
the ground clearance will be fairly high and the front will have a longer overhang and rear will have a shorter one.
apart from those things it should comfortably seat for 5 passengers and the leg room should be larger enough.
because of load carrying, it should need a fairly large boot or a trunk in case of a pickup truck.

market research and User research

there are many utility vehicles in the segment some are by TATA, Mahindra, Toyota and Isuzu.
there are a lot of design variation but in functionality mahindra tops them all and in design TATA has one of the best design.
the Mahindra Bolero pickup is one of the best selling MUV as it is mainly used for Utility purpose.
other brand which has a best selling MUV is the toyota innova which is mainly used for passenger transport.

user research

the main users to the vehicle are one who are hardworking, entrepreneurial person
who wants a rugged vehicle for his daily commute and utility use.
should be a work horse.

Automotive technologies, Trends and Forecasting

new technologies that are currently used can be directly implemented on the vehicles such as Electric drivetrain, new age composites and sensors for parking etc.
the current trend prefers crossovers in MUV segment, because of its use in both utility and compactness
in the future there will be a huge rise in smaller crossovers with electric drivetrain and the design language should match in the mean time.
