Project

Carry out a system-level simulation of an all-terrain vehicle.

Download the model from the given link:

https://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/70576-baja-all-terrain-vehicle-atv-model

Prepare a technical report explaining the model properties & comments on the results.

Ans:-

Aim:-To understand the behavior of the vehicle when subjected to constat and variable throtle ,brakes and study vehical performance.

(This is the model of BAJA ATV model)

1)The model consist of following blocks:

There is a brake and throtle input block.

Generic engine.

Simpel gear.

Vehicle body.

Engine sensor.

i)Brake and throtle input is given to the engine and brake shoes

ii)Then after this the engine drives tha shaft and then this shaft output is given to the gear system, which then gives input to the wheels.

                                                                       (dig.Vehicle body)

The vehicle body consist of 4 wheel ,2 rear and 2 front to which the double shoe brakes are applied.

The vehicle body block is subjected to the wind velocity and inclination.

In the vehicle block we can define the differnt parameter of the vehicle like mass, distance, height of the vehicle ,height above ground.

2)For this model we will study the performace of the vehicle when it is subjected to variable and constat throtle and brakes and looks what is the reaction on the RPM, velocity, distance traveled, shaft speed:-

i)Keep brakes 0 and throtle=0.5

RPM is above 2000 an dvelocity is 34

Throttle is and brake are constant.

Distance and velocity increses gradually in the strating.

CVT primary represents the engine RPM and CVT secondary RPM is the input given to the gear system.

ii)Brakle=0.3     Throttle=0.5

As we can see as we increased the brakes the velocity and RPM become zero. That means the car is at the rest position until we remove the brakes.

For constant barke and constat throttle initially the velocity and distance increases but after 3meter the velocity become zero as brakes are applied and car stops after 3mtr.

Bothe primary and secondary RPM becomes zero as vehicle is at rest now.

iii)For   Brakes=0      Throttle=1

RPM = 3900   Velocity=58

Throttle and brake are constant ,Velocity and distance goes on increasing gradually.

In this case ase throttle is more than the 1st case were throttle was 0.5

here the CVT secondary rpm crosses and leads the CVT primary rpm quickly than the 1st case.

So,from the above results we can say that high throttle will result into high rpm and more distance travel in less time, more velocity, and if we apply brake the vehicle rpm will decrease and distance also until it come to the rest position.
