Project 2 Thermal modeling of battery pack

  • For a 10-cell series lithium-ion battery model, simulate the thermal effects and compare life cycle performance at various temperatures, charge & discharge rates using MATLAB
  • Here we use 10 generic battery model with series connection
  • the positive terminal is connected with the negative terminal and vice versa

  • The power gui block is used here for continuous operation of battery
  • It has various mode with discrete, continuous and phasor

  • All the battery are created within the subsystem for our convenience

  • The ‘m’ terminal of the battery is connected with bus selector
  • Bus selector gives the essential data in scope given

  • In the battery block we assume the temperature and aging characteristics

  • We can assume here the random battery given in the blocks

  • The battery is connected with the controlled current source with positive and negative
  • The type of battery power supply chosen is AC supply
  • The signal generator used here is square wave generator

  • It continuously generates square waves at given amplitude at regular intervals
  • The ps constant block is used to generate physical signal constant
  • This block help in entering the values as in any variable parameter

  • The solver configuration is used here because the ps constant is a simscape block
  • Ps Simulink converter block is used to convert the physical signal to simscape
  • To observe the various thermal characteristics the temperature is changed
  • The safe operating range of the battery is 25 C to 40 C is nominal range

  • The amplitude of the square wave generator is reduced to half the rated voltage

  • By varying the different temperature and Simulation time
  • The result we get have different wave forms

Conclusion:

All the models were explained clearly
