Project 2 - Crush analysis of aluminium Tube
Objective:
Aluminium Tube is placed between one rigid wall and fixed at the bottom end.
The moving rigid wall is made up of Steel material.
Tube is assigned property of Aluminium non-linear alloy.
Both the components are meshed appropriately and assigned proper contacts.
Tube is having dimension 30mm diameter, 1 mm thickness and 200 mm length and rigid wall has 40x40x20 mm .
The moving rigid wall has velocity of 30, 40, 50 and 60 m/s respectively.
Procedure:
Using spaceclaim, the geometry is designed. The tube is considered as a surface and the wall as solid.
Also the material assigned to the tube is non linear aluminium alloy whereas for rigid wall steel materialis used.
The dimensions for tube is as follows - diameter of 30mm and length of 200mm. Since it's a surface the thickness is assigned as 1mm.
For rigid wall the dimensions are 40x40x20mm.

Model:
The above model is meshed and the boundary conditions are applied.
One end of the tube is fixed and at the other end the rigid wall hits with constant velocity. The simulation is conducted with 4 different velocities.

For analysis the end time is calculated using equation of motion.
the simulation is done for all the four different velocities.
