Project 2_Analyze and Design the RC office building as per IS standard code in TEKLA STRUCTURAL DESIGNER
Develop general arrangement for the RC office building. Analyze and design the building as per IS standard code in TEKLA STRUCTURAL DESIGNER. Refer the attached plan and elevation. The building to be designed for dead, live, wind and seismic loading.
Report of each member to be generated and extract drawings for structural plans, beam reinforcement details from the software.
AIM: To Develop, analyze and design the RC office building as per IS standard code using TEKLA STRUCTURAL DESIGNER
INTRODUCTION:
- Tekla Structural Designer is software for analysis and design concrete and steel buildings.
- Tekla Tedds is an application for automating repetitive structural and civil calculations.
- The software is used in engineering for creating output such as calculations, sketches and notes.
TOOLS USED:
- Paint.
- TDS tools:
- Construction levels.
- Grids.
- Manage property sets.
- Columns.
- Beams.
- Slabs on beams.
- Frames.
- Roof panels.
- Wall panels.
- Loads.
- Loadcases.
- Seismic wizard.
- Model report.
- Show report.
- Interactive design.
- Reports.
PROCEDURE:
STEP:1
- Take the screenshots of the plan.
- Open them in paint.
- Highlight the positions of columns and beams in paint.

STEP:2
- Open TDS software
- Click on new to start the project.

STEP: 3
- Go to model tab -->Grid line
- Construct horizontal and vertical grid lines.

STEP: 4
- Now go to model tab --> construction level
- Create the construction levels for the structure according to the plan.
- Rename the levels and input the required data.

STEP: 5
- In home tab --> Go to manage property sets
- Create members used for the modeling.

STEP: 6
- Select the size of the concrete column section used in the construction as per the requirement.

STEP: 7
- Go to model tab and insert concrete columns in the structure.

STEP: 8
- Go to model tab and select the beams tool and draw the beams as per the plan.

STEP: 9
- We can check the structure in 3D for neat view.

STEP: 10
- Simmilarly, Repeat the same process for all the levels as per the plan.

STEP: 11
- Select slabs on beams
- Insert slabs for all the floors, where ever required.

STEP: 12
- Go to 3D view to get a clear view of the slabs inserted.
- Insert frams which will be helpful while applying loads on the structure.

STEP: 13
- Add wall panels to the structure.

- Repeat the same step for all the walls.

STEP: 14
- Go to loads and create new load cases.

STEP: 15
- Add the dead load on the beams.

STEP: 16
- Add the dead loads on the slabs.
STEP: 17
- Repeat the same step for all the floors.

STEP: 18
- Add live load on the structure for all the floors.
STEP: 19
WIND LOAD CALCULATION as per IS:875 P3-1987
- Do the wind load calculation for all the sides for both X and Y ( including both +Cpi and -Cpi values).

STEP: 20
- Start applying the wind loads on the structure.

- Repeat the same process for all the sides.

STEP: 21
- Add roof panels to the structure and also add roof load.

STEP: 22
- Apply seismic load on the structure by selecting seismic wizard.

- Seismic wizard dialog box appears.
- Enter the required values required for seismic load calculation.
- Add loads which will be applied are visible now.

STEP: 23
- Analyze the structure by selecting 1st order Linear option.

STEP: 24
- Select all the loadings required for the analysis.

STEP: 25
- Validate the model to check that there are no errors.

STEP: 26
- Check the axial load diagram.
- Check the SHEAR FORCE and BENDING MOMENT diagram

STEP: 27
- Check each and every coumn and perform interactive design.

STEP: 28
- Now we can model the structure by clicking on model report to obtain the reports.

STEP: 29
- select what all reports we need

STEP: 30
- Now to view the reports
- click on show reports option.

RESULTS:
Hence, we have successfully analyzed and designed the RC Office building as per IS standard code in TEKLA STRUCTURAL DESIGNER.
With the above steps we can design and model any type of RC structuer as per the given plan.
We can add loads ( dead, live, wind and seismic) on the structure and analyze the structure.
