Project 2

AIM:-

Design an interleaving DC/DC converter system for a data centre application with the following specifications:

• Input voltage: 45 – 60 v
• Output voltage: 3 V
• Output current: 100A
• Efficiency > 85% (extra credit for efficiency higher than 90% on a spice-based software simulation tool)

Simulate the system using a Spice-based software simulation tool such as LT-Spice, Pspice, PowerSim, TINA, etc...

Show your design in details (most probably, you will need to use an isolated system to achieve this low voltage conversion ratio, you might also need to use a multiphase system to increase the efficiency).

Show the input voltage, the output voltage, the input current, the output current, the system efficiency and any other simulation plots necessary to evaluate your design.

Given,

Vin=45-60v

Vout=3v

Output current=100A

Efficiency>85%

most probably, you will need to use an isolated system to achieve this low voltage conversion ratio, you might also need to use a multiphase system to increase the efficiency.

Isolated DC-DC converter:-

this isolation usually achived using magnetic isolation and perticularly using transfomer's

therefore , in this design i am using forward DC-DC convereter.

RESULTS:-

input voltage is 60v

give stop time 0.6 and run

the wave form is shown in below

Input voltage:-

input voltage is constant=60v

Input current:-

Ii(max)=10.55

Ii(min)=-0.45

I=(10.55+(-0.45))/2=5.05A

output voltage

Vo(max)=3.04v

Vo(min)=2.96v

total voltage `V=3.04+2.96/2=3.00v`

output voltage =3.00v

Output current:-

Io(max)=103.9

Io(min)=97.9

103.9+97.9/2=100.9

Output current Io=100.9A

Mosfet current:-

Efficiency?

the main aim is get a good efficiency.

here input power is 300w

output power is=295.1w

so

efficiency=output power/input power

295.1/300=0.9836=98.4%

when input and output power is 300w it will come 100% efficiency
