Project 2 - 2D meshing on the instrumental Panel

PRE-PROCESSING OF INSTRUMENT PANEL SUBSTRATE ( DASH BOARD SUB PART ) OF A CAR USING ANSA TOOL

1)Aim

The main aim of this project is to prepare the IP substrate for post-processing analysis. For that we have to do following operations

• check for the geometrical errors and perform geometry clean up
• Extract mid-surface of the component, we have to capture all small features present in the model like ribs
• Mesh the component with given element Quality criteria. We have to maintain good mesh flow 
• After Meshing the component the thickness has to be assigned.

Dashboard

A dashboard (also called dash, Instrument panel (IP)) is a control panel usually located directly ahead of a vehicle's driver, displaying instrumentation and controls for the vehicle's operation. Dashboard is one of the main parts of the car interior component and plays a very important role in different aspects such as safety, reliability, user friendly, technology and appearance and so on.

Procedure

Step  1: Open the IP model using File > open , and give an initial Topo operation for the entire component to paste the perimeters together so that the all the single cons we see while opening the model will become double cons.

 Step  2: Refine the geometry by choosing the perimeter length to the average length in the mesh module both the macros and perimeter should be refined to the average length of the element.

 Step  3: Do the orientation of the faces to visible for this go for

topo > Faces >Orient > Visible.

 Step  4: Do the Geometry clean up for the entire geometry.Belos pictue shows you the Errors in the geometry.

Please fix the geometrical errors .

The Below picture shown you the complete errors fixed in the geometry.

 Step  5: Please proceed for the generation of mid surface for the entire geometry by segment wise to do it in easy manner in detail.Please measure th thickness for the complete geometry.

 

 Step  6: Please proceed for the dog house in this below mentiond manner and do the mid surface accordingly.

 Step  7: Please Proceed for Further Meshing activities ,Please enter the quality criteria as per the given data and do the meshing segment.
