Wine Data Analysis: Exploring White and Red Wine Characteristics and Quality
Wine Data Analysis: Exploring White and Red Wine Characteristics and Quality
Introduction:
This project focuses on analyzing and exploring the characteristics and quality of white and red wines. The dataset used contains various features related to wine properties, such as acidity, alcohol content, pH, and quality ratings. The goal is to gain insights into the dataset and answer specific questions related to wine attributes and their impact on quality.
-
Data Overview: The dataset consists of two subsets: white wine and red wine. Each subset contains information about different features of the respective wine types.
-
Dataset Size: To determine the size of the dataset, we calculate the number of rows or instances in each subset, providing an understanding of the sample size for white and red wines.
-
Null Values: Identifying the presence of null values is essential for data quality. This step involves counting the number of null values in both the white wine and red wine datasets.
-
Data Deduplication: Checking for and removing duplicate entries is crucial for accurate analysis. In this project, we identify and eliminate any duplicated records from both the white wine and red wine datasets.
-
Unique Values: To understand the diversity within each feature, we calculate the number of unique values present in each attribute across the entire dataset.
-
Mean Density: The mean density of both white and red wines is calculated to analyze their average density levels.
-
Dataset Combination: Combining both datasets into a single dataset is performed, with an additional column indicating the color of the wine. This step allows for comparative analysis between the two types of wines.
-
Null Value Removal: Removing any remaining null values from the combined dataset is essential to ensure data completeness and integrity.
-
Outlier Removal: Identifying and removing outliers from the dataset is performed to prevent skewed analysis results.
-
Alcohol Content and Ratings: To investigate the relationship between alcohol content and quality ratings, we analyze whether wines with higher alcohol content tend to receive better ratings.
-
Correlation Analysis: We examine the correlation between the citric acid content and pH levels to determine their relationship and potential impact on wine quality.
-
Regression Analysis: Performing a regression analysis of pH on citric acid provides insights into the linear relationship between these variables.
-
Independent Variables: Determining the number of independent variables in the dataset helps understand the degree of interdependence among the features.
-
Acidity Level Classification: A new column, "acidity level," is created based on the pH values, dividing the data into five groups: High, Moderately High, Medium, and Low. This categorization allows for further analysis based on acidity levels.
-
Mean Quality by Acidity Level: Using the groupby function, we calculate the mean quality rating for each acidity level group, providing insights into the relationship between acidity and quality.
-
Wine Type and Quality: Analyzing whether a specific type of wine (red or white) is associated with higher quality by comparing the mean quality ratings of each type.
-
Alcohol Content and Median: Selecting samples with alcohol content less than the median value provides a comparison between wines with lower and higher alcohol content.
-
Quality Ratings for Low and High Alcohol Groups: Determining the quality ratings for the low alcohol and high alcohol groups allows for an assessment of the relationship between alcohol content and quality.
-
Sweetness and Ratings: Investigating whether sweeter wines receive higher ratings by analyzing the relationship between sweetness and quality.
-
Count of Ratings by Wine Color: Counting the number of ratings based on wine color provides insights into the distribution of ratings among red and white wines.
-
Density Comparison: Comparing the density of red and white wines to determine if they are similar or different.
-
Confidence Interval: Calculating the confidence interval for the differences in the proportion of white wine and red wine
