- They assist in keep tracking of dead lines and identifying significiant dates and potential projects.
- Mile stones still describe the projects essential steps phases of the tasks were removed from the table.
Identification of mile stones:
- Milestones are small steps to achieve final goals and are commonle associated by the beggining or end of the project phase.
- Activities are building blocks of the schedule and have duration
- Which follow of:
- Initiation
- Planning
- Execution
- Closure
Examples of mile stones:
- Critical task
- End of phase or stage
- Major deliverable
- Key performance indices of the projects
Work breakdown structure:
- Determine the project scope as per the identification of the physical entities.
- Determine the activities that need to be performed
- WBS is the hirearchy formed by breaking down the projects into individual actiities.
- The activities are seperated and groped into hirearchial and logical structure to ease the execution of the project work.
- The top most level of the wbs defines the entire scope of the project.
- The elements of the following increses with the increase in their level.
Different stages of the project can act as a macro-level of interface
- Design
- Preliminary works
- Construction
- Testing and commissioning
- Handover
- Closeout
Macro level interdependencies are with in the head of wbs:
- Structure
- Finishing
- MEP works
The schedule should ensure that all the project efforts are captured and that the structure does not contain any unrelated activities
All WBS and sub wbs must be unique and they should not appear any twice. this helps in avoiding of duplicacy.
The project summary schedule defines the critical path, major deliverables divided by the units and system facilities.
