Challenge

Project 1

Using LTE-Sim to screate various scenarios and observe the performance values like SINR, TBS, CQI and MCS.

Task 1 Scenario:

1 Cell

5MHz UL BW and 5MHz DL BW

Frame type: FDD

Scheduling type: PF

1 UE

Traffic type: nbCBR(constant bit rate)

Observation:

Observe the bit rate, SINR, CQI, MCS and TB size

Verifying the scenario code of the file simple.h , I have confirmed the set parameters of Bandwidth which is set at 5MHz. I also verified the frame and scheducling parameters.

Hereafter, I proceeded to use the command ./LTE-Sim Simple to see the result.

In order to save the out I have to use ./LTE-Sim filefunctionname > fileoutputname.txt command

Observed CQI, TBS, MCS and SINR

Task 2 Scenario:<!-- [if gte mso 9]><xml> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE </xml><![endif]--><!-- [if gte mso 9]><xml> </xml><![endif]--><!-- [if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Cambria","serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Cambria; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Cambria; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} </style> <![endif]-->

1 Cell

10MHz UL BW and 10MHz DL BW

Frame type: FDD

Scheduling type: PF

1 UE

Traffic type: nbCBR(constant bit rate)

Observation:

Compare the bit rate, SINR, CQI, MCS and TB size

Based on previos test, I made necessary changes to my Simple.h scenario file.

The using Make clean followed by make I recompiled to have changes come into effect.

Using the same command ./LTE-Sim file_function_name I can run the scenario.

Observed TBs, MCS, CQI, SINR for 10MHz

Number of RBs rose from 25 to 50.

There are variations in SINR values of 10MHz when compared to 5MHz.

TB size and MCS remains the same for CQI 15

So I will be making changes to the frame structure of the scenario file and recompile it before running.

For this purpose I have to make necessary changes to FrameStructure file available in components Manager.

Comparing the saved text files, I observe how a sub frame type gets defined in TDD frame structure.

There are special subframe under TDD

And there are UL subframes

Here, I picked up a different scenario file all together since it allows me to make use of command line arguments to vary certain parameters that suit this particular task.

In the Single Cell without Interference, I verify the bandwidth values set. IT see it set as 10MHz which is fixed.

./LTE-Sim SingleCell radius nbUE nbVoip nbVideo nbBE nbCBR sched_type frame_struct speed maxDelay videoBitRate seed(optional)

                 frame_struct: 1-> FDD, 2-> TDD
available video bit rate: 128, 242, 440 kbps

Using this I can vary the parameters. Here I am supposed to use 2 UEs so setting nbUE  as 2.

Task 5 Scenario:

Create a scenario for multicell as per below configuration:

2 Cell

Cell1:

10MHz UL BW and 10MHz DL BW

Frame type: FDD

Scheduling type: PF

Cell2:

10MHz UL BW and 10MHz DL BW

Frame type: FDD

Scheduling type: PF

1 UE on cell1

Traffic type: voip

Enable handover (power based)

Here. I chose the multicell scenario file in order to test the given task. Ensured that HO was activated in the file.

voip has been set

Command required

./LTE-Sim MultiCell nbCells radius nbUE nbVoip nbVideo nbBE nbCBR sched_type frame_struct speed maxDelay videoBitRate seed(optional)
         --> ./LTE-Sim MultiCell 2 1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 3 0.1 128

Frame type: FDD

Scheduling type: PF

Cell2:

10MHz UL BW and 10MHz DL BW

Frame type: FDD

Scheduling type: PF

2 UEs, 1 on each cell

Traffic type: video

Enable handover (power based)

Here. I chose the multicell scenario file in order to test the given task. Made changes to number of UEs. Ensured that HO was activated in the file.

Video calling traffic has been set

Command required

./LTE-Sim MultiCell nbCells radius nbUE nbVoip nbVideo nbBE nbCBR sched_type frame_struct speed maxDelay videoBitRate seed(optional)
