Project on Preprocessor for Structural Analysis of DASH BOARD SUB PARTS by using ANSA.
AIM:- To check Dash Board Sub Parts for the geometrical errors and mesh with the given element Quality criteria. After meshing the component the thickness has to be assigned.
PROCEDURE:-
1.) Geometry Error and Cleanup:-
The first step is to clean up the error which is in the model. Before that when we open the model in ANSA the model is not in a proper viewing manner and the surface color is also not proper. So we see each surface as single CON it is not connected to each other if connected it would yellow CON, not a red CON. Red represents single CON, Yellow represents Double CON and Blue represents Triple CONs.
FACES > TOPO to connect the CONS. Now, we see there are double CONs it means two surfaces are connected to each other as shown in below fig.
Orientation is given by FACES > ORIENT > VISIBLE. By this, we can see one color on the whole surface but applying this only color which is large in number will be applied to the whole surface.
For the proper view of the model, we decrease the length between the two hot points. By MESH > PERIMETERS > LENGTH. By doing this, we can see a proper model.
Geometry Error:-
We have to check for the error which is in the model and it is done by CHECK MANAGER > GEOMETRY.
There are two boxes in which the first box is showing the error which is there in the model. The second box is for error option which we have to find in the model as shown in the above fig.
These errors are fixed by the auto-fix option which is on the right side of the first box and the other is manually fixed.
2.) Mid-Surface:-
In this model, mid-surface is the main part of the project because meshing is fully dependent on the mid surface of the model. There are different options for the mid-surface of the model.
The upper layer of the model has a uniform thickness, so we can use the offset option for the mid-surface. As we see in the below fig. measuring option which is available.
Before applying offset we have to check every corner so the selection of the surface is done properly. By PARAMETER > FACES > OFFSET.
After mid-surface, we have to check for the errors if there are some on the mid-surface. But we have to deselect the single cons option because it is a single layer and does not have the thickness.
Now this box type feature as to mid-surface and it can do by offset and middle option.
Offset:- It is done by TOPO > FACES > OFFSET. It only can be done when the thickness is uniform.
Middle:- It is done by TOPO > FACES > MIDDLE. This option can be done for both uniform and non-uniform surfaces. In this, we have to select both the side which we have to mid-surface.
We get this type of pattern mid-surface.
But this mid-surface has to connect with each other and also with the main-frame below them. To connect the two strip-like surface we apply a new surface between the by FACES > NEW > CONS. By connecting all of them, we have to connect them with the mid-surface of the main-frame.
It is done by FACES > EXTEND. We have to first select the cone which is to extend and then select the surface till where we have to extend it.
Now, these parts have to mid-surface by FACES > MIDDLE and connect them together.
In the above fig. we have to create a new face between them and apply FACES > EXTEND them to connect them with main-frame, where there is a extend is apply there will be a triple con because of three face connections.
Now, we have completed with whole-body mid-surface and now check with geometry error one more time for proper meshing.
As we apply the target length for the model by MESH > PERIMETERS > LENGTH.
Checkin for geometry error for any disturbs in the mid-surfaces.
3.) Quality Criteria and Mesh Property:-
Before Meshing, the model we have to assign with the element Quality criteria, which given to us and also the Mesh properties.
4.) Meshing:-
We have meshed the model with Batch mesh.
In Batch mesh, we can not apply mesh to the mid-surface because it disturbs the cad of the model. For that to create a new part as shown in the below fig. MODEL > SET PART > SELECTING THE MID-SURFACE > Right-click in the Model Browser > NEW > PART.
Now opening BATCH MESH MANAGER > NEW > MESHING SCENARIO > SELECTING THE NEW PART > RUN.
During selecting the part in below fig. we see that there are two pats first is CAD model and second on mid-surface and applied as a new part.
Hence, Meshing is done with the Batch Mesh option.
5.) Assign Thickness:-
When we create a mid-surface, after that we have to create a PID with thickness applying to it. Because this model consists of parts with different thicknesses.
After the assign the thickness and meshing, we have apply it has a solid that is done by QUALITY CRITERIA > DRAW AS SOLID.
CONCLUSION:-
1.) Cleanup the geometry error.
2.) Meshing with the given Quality Criteria.
3.) Assign thickness to the meshed component.
