Project

Preprocessor for Structural Analysis of Hood using ANSA

AIM:- To check for the geometrical errors and mesh the Hood with the given element Quality criteria & After meshing the hood the thickness has to be assigned.

PROCEDURE:-

1.) Geometry Cleanup:-

Now, when we see the component 1st step that we have do is to check the geometry error in the Check manager.

Their many types of errors we have to clean up before the next step.

In this image, we see errors like Single cons, Cracks, Overlap faces, Needle faces, Triple cons, and Unchecked faces. The error can be determined by the description of it in the check manager. These errors have to be cleanup for that there are two methods. Some errors in this can be auto-fixed as the option of auto-fix is given in the check manager task & rest of errors we have to it manually.

I have separated the hood in 3 parts that are outer, inner and inner plate, then done the geometry cleanup. It means that we have separately store lock them by separating them.

2.) Mid-Surface:-

After the geometry cleanup, we have to mid surface the hood for meshing.

For the mid-Surface, we have done with 2 methods.

1st method:- Automatic mid-surface.

TOPO > FACES > MID-SURFACES

2nd method:- Offset Method.

TOPO > FACES > OFFSETS.

In this, we have to select one of the two-layer of the component section by section and give an offset command.

After the Midsurface, we have again checked for the geometry errors and cleanup them but in this, we have to not select the single cons because mid-surface is a single layer.

3.) Quality Criteria:-

By clicking F9, we get quality criteria index which we select the quality which we needed off.

4.) Mesh Properties:-

We have edit the properties has per need, before the mesh.

5.) Meshing:-

In meshing, we have set the length of cons because in quality criteria we set the length quality has we needed. MESH > LENGTH > Selecting the whole hood.

Now, MESH > MESH.GENERATION > BEST for the proper and best mesh.

In the above figure, we fail in mesh quality. It shows a different colour it means we fail in that quality. Right-hand box show quality we assigned to the mid surface.

After that, we have to reconstruct them for proper meshing. MESH > SHELL.MESH > RECONSTRUCT & then we have smooth them for proper view MESH > SHELL.MESH > SMOOTH.

After proper meshing we can see box in the above figure it shows mesh shapes.

This is a complete MESH that has done on the Hood.

6.) Assign Thickness:-

now we have to assign thickness to meshing mid-surface.

Go to QUALITY CRITERIA > PRESENTATION PARAMETERS > Click on the Draw shell as Solid.

CONCLUSION:-

1. Cleanup of the Geometrical Errors.

2. Meshing the model with the Quality Criteria.

3. Assign the thickness to the meshed part.
