Planetary Gear Motion Simulation using SOLIDWORKS
Objective: To simulate the motion of Planetary Gear using SOLIDWORKS
Procedure:
- The Pitch circle diameter and number of teeth is measured for the planetary gear by inspecting the dimensions (No. of Teeth = 16, Pitch circle diameter = 40 mm)
- The Sun gear, Planetary gears & Ring gear are imported from the SOLIDWORKS toolbox
- The Planetary gear assembly is created
- Using SOLIDWORKS motion analysis, Angular velocity is applied to the input gear and analysis of the angular velocity is done for the output gear
Parameters:
Sun gear: Module = 2.5, No. of Teeth = 14, Pitch circle diameter = 35 mm
Ring gear: Module = 2.5, No. of Teeth = 46, Pitch circle diameter = 115 mm
Carrier: Module = 2.5, No. of Teeth = 16, Pitch circle diameter = 40 mm
Assembly of the Planetary gear:
Case 1: Input is provided to the Sun gear and output analysis is done for the planetary gears
Input RPM: 200
Output: Angular velocity of the planetary gear
Case 2: Input is provided to the Ring gear and output analysis is done for the planetary gears
Input RPM: 200
Output: Angular velocity of the planetary gear
Case 3: Input is provided to the Sun gear and output analysis is done for the Ring gear
Input RPM: 200
Output: Angular velocity of the Ring gear
