Photo Realistic Rendering

AMERICAN CHOPPER DETAILED REPORT

Objective:

  • The objective of this project is used to create a model of American chopper using Solidworks Software.
  • To assemble their different parts modeled for the American chopper.
  • And also create the Photorealistic model of this chopper and the render of the model using the solidworks Photoview 360.

Part Modelling:

Part Modelling is used to create the part by the conceptual sketch and the correct dimensions as per our requirements. By using the sketch, we can solid based modelling and also surface modelling.

There are many of the features is placed inside the software, So we can create the unimaginable parts modelling also possible.

Parts of the Chopper:

The following parts are modeled to create the complete chopper as well as assembling together.

1.Transmission Belt

2.Kick Stand

3.Front Fender

4.Oil Tank

5.Chain

6.Pedal

7.Front Wheel

8.Rear Wheel

10.Front Fork

  1. Transmission Belt

The transmission belt in the chopper is used to transmit power from engine to the Gear box.

Using Features:

  • Sketch
  • Offset
  • Boss extrudes
  • Fillet
  • Appearances

Sketch

Sketch is the two-dimensional representation to create the particular model. Without sketch we cannot create a model. There are many Sketch entities is available in the solidworks software such as Line, Arc, Circle, Spline, Rectangle.

Offset

Offset one of the sketch entities which is used to create the same as like a previous sketch to give particular distance. So, we can offset the Lines, Arcs and also the Splines.

Extrude

Extrude is a type of feature which is used to convert a 2D sketch into the 3D model.

Fillet

Fillet creates the rounded internal or external face on the part. So, we can fillet the edges, faces.

  1. Kick Stand:

The Kick Stand is also known as the side Stand. It is used to support the chopper.

6.Fillet

7.Split

8.Appearences

Loft

Loft feature is used to create the complex geometry in a single feature. In this feature we can the adjust of that green balls to twist of the cross sections.

Dome

Faces to dome. This feature is used to create the dome wherever you want.

Extrude Cut

Extrude cut is one features which is used to removing materials from the solid part. It is just opposite to extrude boss feature.

  1. Front Fender

The front fender is a part mounted on the front fork above the front wheel.

It is used to protect the rider and the chopper.

4.Revolve

5.Dynamic Mirror

6.Split

7.Appearences

Trim

Trim option is used to delete the sketch wherever you want also extend.

Revolve

Revolve is one of the adding materials by creating cross section of the particular part. By clicking the axis of rotation to create the revolved part.

Dynamic Mirror

Dynamic mirror is the important tool which has to be mirror about the pre-sketch entities.

4.Rear Fender

The use of rear fender is the same of the front fender. This is mounted on the chassis above the rear wheel.

Using Features:

1.Sketch

2.Offset Entities

3.Trim Entities

5.Appearences

Appearances

An appearance of the particular part or assembly without these it could be worthless. So, the appearance defines the visual properties of a model, color and also decals etc.

5.Oil Tank

The oil tank is one of the parts which is placed in topmost of the chopper.

This is used to fill the oil to run the engine. So, this will be a hollow one. The thickness of the oil tank is 3mm in our chopper.

Using Features

1.Sketch

2.Boss Extrude

3.Combine

4.Fillet

6.Appearances

Combine

Combine in the word itself it has meaning of that. So, the combine feature is used in the solid works to combine the solid bodies in a single sketch.

Shell

The shell feature is used to create the solid body to make it as a shell body. We have to give the thickness or thin to the shell segments.

6.Chain

Chain is a type of transmission from engine to the rear wheel which is made up of the steel. The sprocket is used to transmit the power to the chain. The sprocket is connected with the shaft with the help of the key.

Using Features

1.Sketch

2.Trim

3.Fillet

4.Blocks

5.Extrude

6.Patterns

7.Appearances

Blocks

Block is a one of the features which is used to create the same solid bodies which has a greater number of items in a sketch or want to create the particular shape. We can save, edit and insert wherever you want to insert.

Pattern

The curve driven pattern tool allows you to create patterns along a reference sketch. So, in this part we have to used the curve driven pattern.

7.Pedal

Pedal is the external part attached to the chassis. This is used to driver leg to the comfort place to rest.

Using Features

1.Sketch

2.Boss Extrude

3.Fillet

4.Linear Pattern

5.Dome

6.Chamfer

7.Appearances

Chamber

A chamfer is used to cut on the edge or corner of something that makes it slope slightly rather than being perfectly square.

Linear Pattern

Linear Pattern is also more like a circular pattern. The features/bodies are patterned linearly.

8.Front Wheel

A wheel is a circular block made up of the steel or alloy material. The tire is covered on the top of this. The tire is made up of rubber.

Using Features

1.Sketch

2.Revolve

3.Trim

  1. Fillet

5.Boss Extrude

6.Revolve Cut

7.Linear Pattern

8.Chamfer

9.Fillet

  1. Cut Extrude
  2. Circular Pattern
  3. Appearances

Circular Pattern

Circular pattern is used to create a pattern of the sporks and the patterns available in the tire. Also, it is used to create holes in the circular discs of the front wheel.

9.Rear Wheel

A circular object that revolves on an axle and is fixed below a vehicle or other object to enable it to move easily over the ground.

The disc and the sprocket are attached with a rear wheel.

Using Features

1.Sketchs

2.Revolve

3.Trim

Move/Copy Body

Move/Copy body is used to move/copy the body from one place to another place wherever you want.

Mirror

By using mirror faces with a midplane selected only the chosen faces within the revolve will be mirrored.

Project Curve

Project curve is the kind of 3D curve which is projected on the basis of the two different 2D sketches.

12.Sweep

The sweep feature is used to create a shape by moving a 2D sketch profile along a 2D or 3D sketch path.

12.Engine

Engine is the most important part of the bike. Because, it is prime mover of the bike. The engine is a device which is used to convert the chemical energy to heat energy then the heat energy converted to mechanical by the connecting rod connection to crankshaft.

The mechanical energy in the sense is the rotational energy from engine to the clutch or gearbox by using the gear.

10.Sweep Cut

11.Fillet

12.Appearances

Loft Surface

Loft surfaces are surfaces generated by the two or more surfaces.

Sweep Surfaces

Sweep surfaces are that are generated same as the sweep surfaces. So, We having the profile and path to get the sweep surface.

Filled Surfaces

The filled surface feature constructs a surface patch with any number of sides, within a boundary defining by the existing model.

Surface Trim

The surface trim is used to keep or remove surfaces. There are two types of standard and mutual trim.

Surface Knit

Surface knit feature is used to knit the edges of the surfaces together. By using the gap tolerances.

Assembly of Chopper:

Initially, the chassis is inserted into the assembly by using the insert parts option. Then, the chassis will be fixed.

After that the other parts of the chopper they are being inserted by their perfect mate conditions.

Using Features

1.Mates

2.Insert Part

Mates

Mates are used to create the geometric relationships between assembly components. As we add mates, we define the allowable directions of linear or rotational motion of the components.

Rendering

Rendering is the process of creating the realistic images of the photorealistic model with the environment.

Rendering has been done in two days in solid works.

In the photorealistic model some of the mate conditions and positions are changed to get the render realistic models.

Conclusion

The parts of the chopper are modeled.

The parts are inserted into the assembly environment and the chopper is assembled.

The realistic image was rendered with the use of the photo view 360.
