Photo Realistic Rendering

American Chopper Using SolidWorks

OBJECTIVE

The main objective of this project is to learn working with SolidWorks

Modelling an “American Chopper” then produce photo realistic Rendered image of the model using tools like Photoview 360 and Soliworks Visualize.

INTRODUCTION

In this particular project we are going to model an “American Chopper”.

This includes making various Parts of “American Chopper” by drawing appropriate sketches on desired planes and Assemble them by using proper mates inside SolidWorks, also we will create photo realistic Rendering of “American Chopper” using tools like PhotoView 360 and SolidWorks Visualize by applying proper material, appearance and environment to it.

DESIGN METHODOLOGY

Here we will take a look at various steps on how we created our model from start to end.

Over view and seting up new templet
  • Overview of user environment and user interface, setting up parameters and create new templet according to metric system.
Creating Shortcuts
  • Creating shortcuts for most common commands used while modelling, this will reduce time for modelling any part.
Modelling Parts and appling appearance
  • Modelling parts with correct dimensions and constrains by selecting proper plane and applying appropriate material & appearance to it.
  • While modelling is necessary to note that all sketches we produce are fully defined.
Assembly of Chopper
  • After we have completed modelling of each and every part, now it’s time for assembly.
  • While working on assembly module, it is important to note that we must select the very first part such that it could be fix to that environment and hence after assemble other parts to it by applying proper mates.
Over of PhotoView 360
  • Once assembly is completed, we are now ready to render our chopper on PhotoView 360.

Setting up Chopper in our environment

  • Before moving forward, we must set up Chopper in our environment, such as making front and rear tyres resting on ground, side stand touching ground, tilting front fork, setting view to prospective to get more realistic visuals.

Adding decals to Chopper

  • After Chopper is all set in environment we can add some decals to our model and modify material and appearance so that it looks more appealing.
Adding environment, background, adjusting camera and adding lights
  • Here we will add environment, background, adjust the camera and add lights so that we get proper angle and view while rendering Chopper.

Rendering in PhotoView 360

  • After we are all set, we can start rendering our chopper, viewing on preview window and taking few sample shorts, this will give us clear idea how to set environment accordingly.

Over view of Solidworks Vizualize

  • SolidWorks Visualize is a suite of standalone software tools that can for rendering 3D models. Here we can create photo realistic images with our model.

Modify materials and appearance also adjust environment

  • We will now open our model on SolidWorks Visualize to get more realistic view with proper background and environment.
  • Here we can modify materials, appearance, background and environment to get photo realistic view.

Adjust our model and Camera for perfect Shot

  • At SolidWorks Visualize we can adjust our camera as well as model for perfect view also we can add camera for other angles.

Proceed for final Rendering

  • Now when everything is set; we can start our final rendering.

PART DEFINATION

Chassis

  • Chassis is the basic framework of the vehicle. Most of the mechanical parts are mounted on chassis such as Engine, Suspension System, Rear Wheel, etc.

Front and Rear Fender

  • Primary function of Fender is to prevent from sand, mud, liquid and other components which could be thrown away by wheel.

Kick Stand

  • Kickstand is another mechanical mounting on chassis, kickstand allows Chopper/ Bike to stand upright without leaning on other surface.

Pedel

  • Pedals used on Choppers/Bikes are mechanical components which acts like lever to operate Gear shifter and Rear brakes.

Tansmission Belt

  • Transmission best is used to transmit power from engine to Transmission System.

Chain

  • Chain is made up of set of links connected to each other forming a loop, basic function of chain is to transit power from transmission system to Rear wheels.

Engine

  • Engine is the most important part of any automobile; it is called as Heart of automobile.
  • Basic function of Engine is to produce Chemical energy of fuel to Mechanical energy and transmit it to Rear wheel through transmission system.

Front Fork

  • Front Fork prevents excessive weight on front wheels while Sudden application of brakes also it damps vibrations coming from the rough roads which helps driver to maintain proper traction with road surface.

Front Wheel

  • When compared to rear wheels, front wheels can rotate freely and also change direction at particular angles which helps driver to turn Chopper/Bike with the help of handle bars.

Rear Wheel

  • Power which is produced in the engine is supplied to rear wheels through Transmission system, by which rear wheels propels vehicle forward.

Fuel Tank

  • Fuel tanks is used to store and Supply Fuel which required to operate the Engine and produce power.

Oil Tank

  • Oil Tank acts as a reservoir which stores engine oil which is required to cool Engine and transmission system.

Seat

  • Seats provide proper comfort to drivers and co-passengers while driving.

CONCLUSION:

At the end of this Project we can conclude that,

  • We have completed modelling of each and every part using proper tools, features and dimensions.
  • We have done assembly of Chopper by selecting correct planes and proper mates.
  • We have also produced rendered images our Assembly of “American Chopper” using PhotoView 360.
  • At last we created photo realistic images of “American Chopper” using SolidWorks Visualize.
