TITLE:  Modelling, Assembly and Photorealistic Rendering of American Chopper using SOLIDWORKS

Objective:

  • To create the 3D model of an American Chopper using SolidWorks 2020
  • To Create the required parts for the American Chopper
  • To build the assembly with right configuration
  • To create the photorealistic rendering of an American Chopper

Introduction

American Choppers

A chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in California in the late 1950s. A chopper employs radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. They can be built from an original motorcycle which is modified ("chopped") or built from scratch. Some of the characteristic features of choppers are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (frames without rear suspension), very tall "ape hanger" or very short "drag" handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels.

Solidworks:

SolidWorks is a solid modelling computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering computer program published by Dassault Systems

This project consists of sketching, features, part modelling of an American chopper model. Added lights and cameras using Photoview 360 add in. Solidworks Visualize is used to add environments and have a quality rendering.

Photorealistic Rendering

Rendering is the process of generating a photorealistic from a 2D or 3D model by means of a computer program. The resulting image is referred to as the render. Multiple models can be defined in a scene file containing objects in a strictly defined language or data structure. The scene file contains geometry, viewpoint, texture, lighting, and shading information describing the virtual scene.

Photoview-360 and SolidWorks Visualize is used to render American Chopper.

Conclusion:

  • This Project got me vast knowledge about various tools of SolidWorks, designing methods, designing approach and important techniques to ace the 3D modelling.
  • Rendering techniques which really helpful to have a complete package of 3D modelling from start to end.
