Project Report on American Chopper
Aim:
To create part models with required dimension for American Chopper and to assemble using solid works and to working on it appearances using photoview 360.
Objectives:
To design each and every part of the fully defined American chopper in solid works and to make more naturalistic by photoview 360.
Components of chopper
- Chassis
- Engine
- Transmission belt
- Chain
- Pedal
- Kickstand
- Front fork
- Front fender
- Front wheel
- Rear fender
- Real wheel
- Oil tank
- Gas tank
Procedure:
Transmission Belt:
Transmission belt which can able to transfer power and also it is called as source of motion. It also helps to transfer power from engine to gearbox.
Tools used:
- Fillet
- Extrude
Kick Stand:
A metal bar for holding the vehicle (two wheelers) which makes to stand upright without aid of the object. It is placed on the bottom of the vehicle. It can flip down for holding when vehicle is in rest.
Tools used:
- Spline
- Loft
- Split
- Extrude
- Cut Extrude
- Dome
Front Fender:
The main purpose of front fender is to prevent sand, and other particles on the road that are being thrown into the air by the tire.
Tools used:
- Spline
- Fillet
- Extrude
- Split
- Revolve
Rear Fender:
The main purpose of rear fender is to prevent sand, and other particles on the road that are being thrown into the air by the tire.
Tools used:
- Spline
- Fillet
- Extrude
- Split
- Revolve
Oil Tank:
Oil tank is used to make the flow of oil from the oil tank and pump it into combustion engine.
Tools used:
- Spline
- Fillet
- Extrude
- Combine
- Shell
Pedal:
Each of a pair of foot operated levers used for powering a bicycle or other vehicle propelled by the legs.
Tools used:
- Spline
- Extrude
- Extrude Cut
- Mirror
- Dome
- Chamfer
Chain:
- Chain drive is a way of transmitting mechanical power from one place to another.
- It is often used to convey power to the wheels of a vehicle.
Tools used:
- Extrude
- Fillet
- Curve driven pattern
- Mirror
Front Wheel:
The front wheel that the power to be transmitted has to be at very variable angles. As the steering can turn as the controlled directions with the road.
Tools used:
- Revolve
- Extrude
- Cut Extrude
- Circular Pattern
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Combine
Rear Wheel:
The entire weight of the bike is applied on the rear wheel, and the power drive is applied. This provides the weight transfer to the rear on acceleration improves rear wheel to move and reducing front wheel traction. This made the rear wheel to be driven.
Tools used:
- Revolve
- Extrude
- Cut Extrude
- Circular Pattern
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Combine
Front Fork:
The forks are mainly used to reduce the shock absorbers with internal coil springs.
They allow the front wheel to react to imperfections in the road.
Tools used:
- Revolve
- Extrude
- Fillet
- Linear Pattern
- Dome
- Cut Revolve
- Fillet
- Combine
Engine:
Motorcycle engine is a machine designed to convert one form of energy to another form of energy. The made the fuel to burn and to do work.
Tools used:
- Extrude
- Fillet
- Revolve
- Circular Pattern
- Dome
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Mirror
- Split
- Sweep
- Composite Curve
Chassis:
Chassis made the whole body to hold in it. It contains engine, front fork, front and rear wheels, fenders are contained in it. Chassis play the vital role in the vehicle to hold it in.
Tools used:
- Curve
- Sweep
- Mirror
- Extrude
- Cut Extrude
- Chamfer
- Fillet
- Split
- Combine
- Mirror
Chopper Assembly:
We have created different parts to create an American chopper and now the assembly part is done. Each part requires a different mate option.
So each part got assembled by doing the following mate procedure.
Tools used:
- Mid plane mate
- Tangent mate
- Coincident
- Parallel
- Perpendicular
- Distance mate
- Angle mate
- Concentric
- Width mate
- Mirroring of pedal
Rendering:
Rendering is an image synthesis generating a photorealistic image of a 2d or 3d model by means of using software. It is used in order to create a life like images on a screen.
Tools used:
- Edit appearance
- Edit scene
- Edit decal
- Integrated preview
- Preview window
- Final render
- Option
- Schedule render
- Camera
- Light
Conclusion:
By modelling an American chopper I came to know different things that were unknown to me and learned a lot of things like
- projecting curves
- Rendering
- Different kinds of mates etc.,
The model was successfully completed by solidworks and also edited as photorealistic in photoview 360.
