MODELLING OF AMERICAN CHOPPER
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of this project is to sketch and model American chopper bike by designing and modelling different parts of the bike and assembling them together using the software Solidworks.
INTRODUCTION:
Solidworks is 3D modelling CAD and CAE computer program than runs on Microsoft windows. It is created by DASSULT SYSTEMS. Solidworks provide dedicated tools and workflows that streamline the design and development of your product from concepts through to reality. Intelligence is baked into solidworks making it simple to create winning design in record time.
CHOPPER:
Chopper is a type of custom motorcycle which emerged in California in late 1950s. The chopper is perhaps the most extreme of all custom styles, often using radically modified steering angles and lengthened forks for a stretched-out appearance. Some of the characteristics features of chopper are long front ends with extended forks often coupled with an increased rake angle, hardtail frames (Frames without rear suspension), very tall “ape hanger” or very short “drag” handlebars, lengthened or stretched frames, and larger than stock front wheels.
DESIGN METHODOLOGY:

AMERICAN CHOPPER IS THE ASSEMBLY OF FOLLOWING PARTS
- Transmission belt
- kickstand
- Front fender
- Rear fender
- Chain
- Oil tank
- Pedal
- Front wheel
- Rear wheel
- Front fork
- Chassis
- Engine
- Gas tank
DESCRIPTION OF THE PARTS:
1) Transmission belt:
A belt is a loop of flexible material used to link two or more rotating shaft, mechanically, most often parallel. Belts may be used as a source of motion, to transmit power efficiently or to track relative movement. Belts are the cheapest utility for power transmission between shafts that may not be axially aligned. Power transmission is achieved by purposely designed belts and pulleys.
