Challenge

Modelling and simulation of flow through a flowbench

Aim :

The aim of the experiment is to study the flow analysis of flow through flowbench

Procedure:

The model is created and the dimensional constraints to the valve is specified and the boundary conditions are specified as shown :

at the inlet total pressure of 1bar is specified and at the bottom a static pressure of 0.5 bar is specified where the flow takes place from inlet to bottom due to the pressure difference created.

Initially a study is run with a valve lift of 0.001m.

Based on the obtained reults a parametric study is setup where the valve lift is varied from 0.001m to 0.008m keeping the other variables constant.

A grid dependency test is run in order to get a precise flow.

Cut plots of velocity for the vaues of valve lift ranging from 0.001m to 0.008m

And results obtained are:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.001m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.002m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.003m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.004m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.005m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.006m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.007m:

Velocity plot Valve Lift of 0.008m:

Results:

Obtained Graph for mass flow rate:

Conclusion:

From the obtained result it is seen that mass flow rate increases with increases with increase in Valve Lift.

Negative mass flow rate indicates tht the flow leaves the body.
