Project

Modelling and assembly of Sunseeker Predator Yacht and Radar Mast

Modelling and assembly of Sunseeker Predator Yacht and Radar Mast

Objective

  • The objective of the project is to model the individual parts of the yacht using Solidworks
  • To assemble the parts of the yacht in the assembly environment or assembly file using Solidworks.
  • To create a photo - realistic rendering of the Yacht and radar mast using photo-view 360 and Solidworks Visualize.

Design Methodology

1 Modelling the individual parts of the yacht by using surface modelling in Solidworks.
2 Modelling of radar mast.
3 Assembling the parts of the yacht.
4 Rendering the yacht using photo - view 360
5

Setting the yacht in an environment using Solidworks Visualize.

6

Rendering the radar mast using photo - view 360.

Description of features used to model the yacht and radar mast

  • Extruded boss/base - It is used to create a 3D model from a 2D sketch
  • Extrude cut - It is used to remove material from a 3D model
  • Fillet - It is used to create round edges/faces.
  • Mirror - It is used to create a mirror image of an part or a sketch.
  • Revolve - It is used to create symmetrical 3D models from a 2D sketch.
  • Circular pattern - It is used to create a number of instances of a similar part about the diameter of the circle.
  • Chamfer - It is used to make a symmetrical sloping edge.
  • Shell - It is used to define the thickness of a hollow part.
  • Projected curve - It is a 3D curve generated using two different 2D sketches.
  • Surface loft - It is used to generate a surface using two different cross - sections.
  • Surface fill - It is used to create a surface within a defined boundary.
  • Sweep surface - It is used to create a surface using a cross- section along a path.
  • Surface trim - It is used to remove unwanted surface.
  • Surface knit - It is used to knit open edges using a tolerance value.
  • Extended surface - It is used to extend the existing surface.
  • Surface offset - It is used to create an offset or copy of the existing surface.
