Mixing Tee simulation
Mixing Tee simulation- Report
Objective:
- To study mixing process in mixing Tee.
- Perform steady state simulations to compare mixing effectiveness.
Introduction:
Mixing tee is device which we use day-in and day-out. It mixes two incoming streams into one combined stream and it is simple and cost-saving way to have mixing of two fluids. It is used in chemical industries, air conditioners for mixing fresh and return air.

Conclusion:
from the results we plotted, it is observed that mixing efficiency is independent of length of tee joint. Mixing fluid get uniform temperature in pipe due to turbulent nature of flow in short span of pipe. As we increase the velocity of cold fluid i.e. the momentum ratio the mixing efficiency (standard deviation) is found to be improved.
The mixing parameters are mainly governed by the momentum ratio i.e. velocity of cold fluid and not the length of geometry. So, i'll prefer to use high velocity cold inlet along with longer Tee pipe to get better mixing at outlet.
