MBD Simulation on a Piston Assembly
Objective:
To create a 3D model for Piston Assembly and parts are performed a motion analysis and also to study linear displacement of the Piston head assembly.
Introduction:
A piston is a component in reciprocating pumps, engines, gas compressor, and other similar mechanisms. It is a linearly moving component that is contained in the cylinder and made gas-tight with the help of piston rings. In an engine, its primary function is to compress the fuel and transfer the forces from expanding gases through a connecting rod.
Parts required for assembly:
1.Piston:
2.Crank:
3.Connecting Rod:
4.Wrist Pin:
5.End Cap:
Motion Analysis:
The motion analysis going to be carried out in three different conditions,
| Sl.No |
Wrist Pin Offset ` |
Crank Speed (Rpm) |
| 1 | "0" mm | 2000 |
| 2 | 10 mm Positive | 2000 |
| 3 | 10 mm Negative | 2000 |
Case 1:Motion Analysis "0" mm offset
Case 2: Motion Analysis for "10mm Positive" offset
Case 3: Motion Analysis for "10mm Negative Offset"
Conclusion:
We can conclude that Linear Displacement increases as we move from negative wrist pin offset to positive wrist pin offset i.e. the magnitude of the Linear displacement increases.
