MBD Simulation on a Piston Assembly

Aim : To study the multi dynamics of ic engine components

Introduction

Various parts of ic engine are cam ,piston, connecting rod and wrist pin. Cam is connected to the cam shaft.

Cam performs rotatory motion by the motor which is connected to the cam shaft.By the rotatory motion of the cam connecting rod also rotates.

1 End of connecting rod is connected to piston through wrist pinand other end is connected to the cam.Piston and connecting rod are connected via wrist pin.

Clearance is provided between the piston and the wrist pin

Piston performs reciprocating motion

We prepared piston ,connecting rod ,wrist pin and cam shaft as per the guidance shown in the video and assembled them in proper manner.

Firstly we attached a constant speed motor,on the axis of cam shaft to provide rotary motion to it.

Then we gave contacts between consecutive members of the assembly

We provided gravity in y direction and ran the calculation.

We then observed how the parts moved with respect to one another after that we plotted results based on angular velocity and displacement

NOTE: Due to the limitation of my laptop,i was not able to follow the instruction of the challenge.
