Challenge

Introduction to National Building Code and Steps in a Construction project

Aim : 1) Why are building codes or standards essential for the modeling/ efficiency of drawings in Revit ?

Procedure :1) The NBC was published in 1970 and then it was revised in 1980

2) The latest version of NBC is from 2016

2) NBC acts as a Guidline for all the following structural Buildings such as:

a) Residential Buildings

b) Commercial Buildings

c) Industrial Buildings

d) Assembly Buildings

e) Storage spaces

f) Hazardous Buildings

g) Educational Buildings etc.

4) It is protect the structure of building and to assure the safety of a building.

5) The National Building Code (NBC) also helps in the modern contructions.

Aim : 2) From the National Building Code list the groups that will be essential to you when you begin modeling in Autodesk Revit

Procedure : According to the NBC the groups are divided into 9 parts which are as follows

Group A : Residential Buildings

Groups B : Educational Buildings

Group C : Assembly Buildings

Group D : Institutional Buildings.

Group E : Mercantile Buildings

Group F : Buisiness Buildings

Groups G : Storage Buildings

Group H : Industrial Buildings

Group J : Hazardous Buildings

Aim : 3) List the five major steps that occur in project cycle . The steps should include from conceptualization of project to maintenance and final stage

Procedure : The steps to be occure for completing the project are as follows

1) Initiation : It is necessary to know that the ground where the building is to be constructed should be preparedc right.

b. The soil should be properly checked and tested whether it is feasable for construction or not

c. Identification of project stack holders

d. Identification of deliverability.

2) Planning : This is the most important step among all while you start a project.

b) Planning of the project should be proper so that the there are no further problems while contructiing a project.

c)The large project are broken down into small parts.

d) Smaller goals should paid a good attention

e) Completing of project in time is the main objective in planning,

f) Time management is also the important point under the Planning.

3) Excecution : After planning properly the next step is Excecution.

b) Manage the workflow for the project task

c) For every step in the excecution the risk management is the important factor

d) Manpower (Labour) for the small tasks should be properly assigned for the proper excecution of the construction.

e) Verification when the milstones are reached is very important.

f) Make sure the work is done according to the plan.

4 Closure : In this phase final deliverables is released.

Analyze the team and project performance

Accounting of used and unused material

Aim : 4) Give examples of different disciplines involved in construction of a project

Procedure : There are various deciplnes involved in a construction project, they are as follows

Constructions : It is managing the building from begining to end

Finance and Estimation : Estimatiion of cost of activity is done.

Contracts and bid : Demonstration of strong biding practices are focused in this step

Geotechnical : Designing foundation and earthquake system to support soil is been focused in Geotecnical.

Management : It helps in managing all the equipments and helps in excecuting the project in planned ways.

Structural : Structural team helps to analyze the Loads and structure of a building, Towers, Dams, Bridges etc.

Surveying : It is used the measure the horizontal distance to produce the maps, Property lines, Layouts etc.

Aim : 5) How are buildings classified ? Place the following buildings under each category
a. Four unit apartments
b. School with capacity of 1000 students
c. A single unit shop.
d. Multi story Shopping complex
e. Steel machine factory

Procedure : a. Four unit apartments : Group A : Residential Buildings

b. School with capacity of 1000 students : Group B : Educational Buildings

c. A single unit shop. : Group E : Mercantile Buildings

d. Multi story Shopping complex : Group E : Mercantile Buildings

e. Steel machine factory : Group H : Industrial Buildings

Aim : 6) Distinguish the roles of Design team and Management team

Procedure : Design Team

1. It is for finalising the plan of a project.

2. It is a evalutionary and participatory process

3. Design Team is assigned in excecution and the Contruction Stage.

4. Proper implementation of Designed is focused by Designed Team.

5. Type of Loads for the type of the Building is been focused by the Design Team.

Management Team :

1. The have to accomplish the project with given Time.

2. Interdisciplinary co-ordination is also looked by the Management Team.

3. Leaders and memebers pf this team should be experienced for the proper excecution of the project.

4. They achieve the proper completion of project.

5. Time management and proper planning is done by the Management Team.

Conclusion : In this way the Challenge is been Completed.
