Internal Geneva Mechanism

Aim :
To perform Motion analysis of Internal geneva Mechanism with given drawing dimension.

Introduction:
Geneva Mechanism is classic one which is used to Convert Continuous rotation into Intermittent rotation. It has driver and driven component. Driver is basically connected to the motor and driven to Application.
Intermittent rotation is achieved by providing slots in driven and cylindrical rod in driver which moves in the slots of driven. Number of Slots decide the angular displacement of the driven component.

Modelling:

2D:

1. Driven component

2. Driver component:

3D Model: Driven component

Mating Condition:

Simulation Parameters:

1. At N = 10 Rpm ( Driver ) - No Precise Contact

Precise Contact Selection :

2. At N = 10 Rpm ( Driver ) - Precise Contact

Angular displacement of the driven at 10 Rpm:

Angular Velocity of driver at 20 rpm:

Result:

As speed of the motor ( rpm ) increases Angular velocity also increases, but angular displacement remain constant as slots in driver is constant ( n = 4 ). Contact force increases rpm increases. Precise Contact gives better results comparing non-precise contact between two components
