Hood design-Week 2
Hood :
The Hood or bonnet is the hinged cover over the engine of motor vehicles that allows access to the engine compartment or trunk on rear-engine for maintenance and repair.
The bonnet system is an access panel to the engine compartment to enable maintenance of
power train, drive belts, battery, fluid levels and lamp units.
It is fundamentally a reinforced skin panel with many safety and quality requirements.
Pros of Hood :
- Increase the Engine Power
- Intake of RAM air
- Inter cooler exposure
- Increase performance
- Good look
Manufacturing process of Hood :
- Blanking
- Stretch forming
- Trimming and Punching
- Deburring
- Welding
- Grinding
- Painting
- Baking
- Polishing
- Coating
Trajectory Circle :
It is the Opening and Closing Trajectory of Hood.
Master Data :
Inner Panel :
By using the Master Data, the Inner Panel has been designed.
The Thickness of the Inner Panel is 0.75 mm
Outer Panel :
The Thickness of the Outer Panel is 0.75 mm
It has been created with Hem and Front & Rear Relief.
Hemming :
Reinforcement :
Mastic Data :
The Mastic is acted as sealant between Inner panel of Hood and Outer Panel of Hood
It also act as to arrest the NVH.
The area of each Mastic sealant is 80 mm.
Force Distrubuction :
Front and Rear Relief :
Assembly :
Conclusion :
The Car's front hood has been designed by using the referance of Master data as per Engineering standared by using NX 12.
