Final Project: Design of an Electric Vehicle
1. Create a MATLAB model of electric car which uses lithium-ion battery and DC motor. Choose suitable blocks from Powertrain block set. Prepare a report about your model including following:
Ans:
Objectives:
1. System level configurations
2. Model parameters
3. Results
4. Conclusion
A. System level configurations:

2. SOC Estimate
3. Multiport Switch
4. Vehicle Body
5. Display
6. Scope
7. Constant
8. Simulink - PS Converter
9. PS - Simulink Converter
10. Controlled-Voltage Source
11. Current Source etc.
The model of an EV looks as depicted below:
B. Vehicle Sub-system:
Fundamental Blocks:
1. Simple Gear
2. Tire
3. PS Constant
4. Connection Port
5. PS Terminator
6. Inertia
C. SOC Estimate Sub-system:

2. Constant
3. Add Block
4. Connection Port
5. Transfer Function
D. Model Parameters:
| Parameter | Value |
| Speed | 60kmph |
| Rated DC Supply | 300V |
| No-load Speed | 8000rpm |
| Rated Speed | 5000rpm |
| Internal Resistance of a Battery | 0.5Ohm |
| Efficiency | 86% |
| Drive Cycle Used | FTP75 (2474sec) |
E. Results:
A. Drive Cycle Output:
B. Current Output:
C. %SOC Estimate Output:
F. Conclusion:
1. From the above results, it is clear that if we can`t exactly get the real-time results but still we can serve the purpose of a Simulation.
2. The state of charge(SOC) constantly decreases from 100% to 0% in 1400 sec, then it remains zero afterwards and can go to negative if the necessary charging conditions are not provided.
3. The current output is very fluctuating as it peaks at around 320A at the higher side and around 140A at the lower side.
