Fender Design Challenge
Aim:
*To design the fender design using catia v5
Objectives:
*Design the fender with necessary mounting areas given below
1. Drip area
2. A - pillar mount
3. Sill mount
4. Bumper mount
5. Baffle and splash mount
Introduction:
*fender is the american english term for the part of an automobile and motorcycle or other vehicle body the fender is used all automobile vehicles the primary purpose of fender is to prevent from sand, dust, mud, liquid and other spray from being thrown into the air by the rotating tire
*There is a two types of fender is used in automobile vehicles
1. Half bumper fender.
2. Full bumper fender.
* Half bumper fender.
*Half bumper fender are used mostly because it redueces the weight and scrap of the fender as well as car body it creates only half of what the full bumper fender does and other parts with the bumper parts.
Procedure:
*Drip mounting:
*Drip area is mounted below the the hood to connect with fender it is designed like when the hood is in closed condition this region need to be flush out and there will be fewer gaps so the inner area of the engine compartment will not show through the gap
* The drip area is bolted down by self tapping screws and sometimes iot also spots welded
* The drip is away from the 150mm from the front bumper end which is kept for headlamp and 200mm away from the rear bumper end which is kept for locating wiper motor assembly
Steps followed for working:
*First to create the line 5mm to the surface to using parallel curve command to create the all sides of the fender
*Next to create the flange to using given dimension of master section and take a dimension from the automobile laws
* To create the points where you need to cut the elements
*And connect the points using spileline or connected curve commands
* Next to cut the elements we not needed there is two ways of cut the surface i using the boundray command and create the boundary and cuty the surface
*Next we need to emboss the mounting areas using emboss command and blend the surfaces
*And same steps followed by all mounting areas
A-piller mount area:
*A-piller mounting is created to joint the fender and A-piller

Sill mounting:
*Sill is basically the bottom side the BIW and it is joint to the fender

Bumper mounting:
*The bumper is mounted or attcahed to the front fender it absorb the impact force during the crash and it always should be seprate from the fender so it can be easily repalcable and nowdays most of cars are not using the bumper for the aerodynamicas and slyling reason

Baffle mounting:
*The baffle is an important mounting for the safety requirements to the pedestrain an well as engine compartment from the chipping
Drip area:

Body mounting:
*Body mounting is created mount of fender along with hinge of doo
Result:
*The fender is design is created including the required mounting following the master section and also automobile basic laws from the internet
