Fender Design
Aim: To design mountings for the sill, bumper, baffle, A-pillar, and drip areas for the given fender
Fender: Fenders are usually located over each of the car's four wheels and are designed to prevent road debris, water, and other elements from being thrown into the air by the rotating tires and potentially damaging the car's body or other nearby objects
Fender mountings: Different mounting locations in a fender are
- A-Pillar mounting
- Body mounting
- Sill mounting
- Bumper mounting
- Drip mounting

Drip Area:
This is the area that gets attached to the engine compartment. The clearing distance to design the drip area to make sufficient clearance for the cowl top and headlamp are done according to the master section

Sill Mounting Area:
This area is attached at the bottom of the door. Used to combine the floor with the body

Bumper Mounting Area:
To fix the fender with the headlamp and bumper region

A-Pillar Mounting Area:
Connects the body with the roof along the windshield

Manufacturing process:
Sheet metal components are generally manufactured using stamping process. The sheet metal is cut into appropriately sized blanks, which will be placed in the stamping machine. The die is mounted on a stamping press, which is a machine that can exert a significant amount of force. The material undergoes plastic deformation and takes on the desired shape. Trimming is performed to remove any excess material
