Fender Design

Introduction to fender :

The fender which is used to cover the engine room and the wheel and its also used to protect the pedestrians .

There are two typers of fender using in automobile insutry

They are :

Full bumper type

Half bumper type

Full bumper type :

the full bumper type are rarely used in automobile industry because it may cause high money investment and high wasteage of material .so it is rarely used in industries

Half bumper type

half type are most widely used in the automobile industries because it cost less amount in production and less wastage of material .

here we constructed half bumper type fender.

A.MOUNTING DRIP AREA :

While constructing the drip area there are lot of constraints are used .Frist we have to make sketches for the emboss in the sheet metal and make a hole to connect with the engine compartant .the embossing is not fixing with engine compartant and also provide extra strength to the fender .

B.MOUNTING THE SILL AREA :

Sill is the panel directly below the bottom of the door supporting the floor and may be used to combine the floor and the body . The bottom end of the fender is mounted on the sill body for reinforcement of the fender panel , thus the sill mounting position is designed with holes and emboss.

C. A PILLAR MOUNTING AREA :

This mounting fixed with the A pillar and the widshield rest .

D.BUMPER MOUNTING AREA :

The attached image shown about bumper mounting area .In this some of the constrains step are added and adding extra darts in this moiunting .It means is used to provide the extra strength to the fender and avoid getting more damage while in crash .

The emboss and cutout also provided for fixing and providing strength .

E.BUFFLE AREA MOUNTING :

It shows the fixing for the buffle which is in the black colour .It is used to absorb the some sort of vibrations and also from the dust practicles .the buffle which are fixed with the plastic clips .It protects the car engine compartment and pedestrians from causing injuries from chip out debris on the road when the car is in motion.

after completing the all above steps we have make the skin fender to thickness of 0.75mm thickness to inward of the sheet metal .the image is shown below

Finally the fender is completed.
