Design of backdoor

AIM- To design back door of a car.

TOOL USED- NX CAD

BACK DOOR- It is a component used for entry and exit of the commodity. It is also responsible for safety purpose during rear head collision. It can be either operated manually of with the help of pneumatic power. It is mosly made up of steel as a material which increases the weight of a component but therare certian oems as well which uses aluminium as a material to reduce the weight drastically but they are on higher side when talking about the cost.

COMPONENTS-

Outer panel

Inner panel

Reinforcements

SCHEMATIC FIGURE-

INNER PANEL- It is an important of a back door since it houses various accessories like latch and striker reinforcement, viper reinforcement, hindge reinforcement, gas stay reinforcement. Embosses are mostly made in a diverging v shape so as to dissipate the foces outwards. It is made by pressing operation where a press will be indenting into the blank of a sheet to make necesssary shapes.

OUTER PANEL-It is component reponsible mainly for the aesthetics and the aerodynamics criteria for a vehicle. It houses number plate reinforcements, tail light, rear fog lamp

REINFORCEMENTS- Total four reinforcements we have used here to strenghten our commodity.

HEMMING- Its a operation used to join inner and outer panel . A roller a made to roll along the circumference to folds outer panel into the inner panel.

Hemming releif is always given into the sharp corner to accomodate bending.

LATCH AND STRIKER ROTATION- Is basically a trajectory of the striker along a circular path.

SECTIONAL VIEW-

DRAFT ANALYSIS- Before giving the cad model to CAE a small analysis we need to carry out to make sure the the ease of manufacturing of the part. Permissible draft angle for back door is >=5*

FINAL ASSEMBLY-

RESULT- So the back door is made and is ready to go for the further process.
