Creating a Residence Layout, Seating plan, Toilet and Utility room plan using AutoCad
AIM:
To draw the Residence Layout, Seating plan, Toilet and Utility room plan using AutoCAD
INTRODUCTION:
The given sketch consisting of Residence plan, seating plan & Toilet Utility room plan
Residence plan consisting of following units
Bedroom #1, Bedroom #2, Toilet #1, Toilet #2, Living room, Dining, Parking & staircase unit.
Seating with canopy contains one round table of radius 452mm & four chairs.
Toilet utility room plan using AutoCAD.
Commands used:
Polyline, Circle, Offset, Extend, Fillet, Mirror, Trim, Move, Rotate, Annotate.
1). Residence Plan: Sketch the layout of a residence as shown in the Figure 1. Consider all dimensions as reference to sketch the unit plan. Also the text in the layout are only for reference. Assume the missing dimensions. Also, refer the schedule for size of the doors.
PROCEDURE
Residence Plan:
New sheet-Units-Engineering-precision 0’.0’’ feet & OK.
First create building boundary line, Command: REC Rectangle 43’ 6.5’’ x 25’ 0’’
Offset the rectangle with 9.0’’
Bedroom-1:
Give offset from wall, command: O Offset 11’ 7.5’’ in X-direction & 12’ in Y-direction
Bedroom-2:
Give offset from wall, command: O Offset 11’ 6’’ in X-direction & 12’ in Y-direction & 4.5’’ wall thickness b/w bedroom-1 7 bedroom-2
Toilet-1:
Give offset from left side outer wall, Command: O Offset 8’ 3.0’’ in X-direction & 4’ 6.0’’ in Y-direction offset from bedroom-1 wall (wall thickness 9.0’’)
Toilet-2:
Give offset from right side outer wall, Command: O Offset 8’ 1.5’’ in X-direction & 4’ 6.0’’ in Y-direction offset from bedroom-2 wall (wall thickness 9.0’’)
Dining and Living Room:
Give offset from toilet-1 & 2 wall 11’ in X-direction
From dining area provide partition wall b/w dining & kitchen with a wall thickness of 4.5’’ & length of 6’ 4’’
From living area provide outer wall thickness of 9.0’’
Area remains for Dining is 8’ 7.5’’ x 11’ & Living area 14’ 10.5’’ x 11’.
Kitchen:
Give offset from left side wall, Command: O Offset 8’ 7.5’’ in X-direction & 6’ 8’’ in Y-direction.
Provide kitchen slab width as 2’ as shown in sketch.
Staircase:
Provide stairs with a width of 3’ from main wall in two partitions, thread as 1’ & riser as 6’’
Draw offset of 1’ thread to draw the stairs in plan view, draw 9 offsets as there are 9 risers for 8 steps. Mark the direction of stairs upwards.
Drawing doors:
Trim all the door openings with their respective width
D1-3’, D2-2’ 6’’, D3-3’ 3’’
For opening kitchen, trim the line retaining a distance of 6’ 4’’ from right side of kitchen.
Draw doors creating a hinge of 0.5’’ from the midpoint of both walls, then drawing a circle with one point on midpoint of one hinge & other the midpoint of another hinge.
Window:
For living take an offset of 1; 3’’, this is where the window starts
Using line command draw a line of 6’ from the center of offset line inside the wall thickness.
Cupboard:
Draw the cupboard by creating rectangle command- REC- specify base point- click on dimension- give dimension as 5’ x 2’, copy the rectangle to another bedroom also.
Command: DLI
DIMLINEAR
Select object/walls to dimension as shown in sketch.

2). Sketch the seating plan for an outdoor canopy. Assume the dimensions for the seating. Also, consider the dimensions in mm.
PROCEDURE
Seating Plan for Outer canopy:
Creating circles:
New sheet-Units-decimal-precision 0.00 meter & OK.
Draw a circle with a command: C select a center point & give the radius as 1398mm
Draw another circle with same center point with radius 452mm.
Draw an offset of 200 mm from the inner circle to determine the position of chairs
Draw lines along the diameter of the bigger circle.
Drawing chairs:
Draw a rectangle command: REC giving dimensions as 400mm & 200mm
Draw an arc with start-center end method with the end point & center of the side(400mm) of rectangle
Draw another rectangle of 55mm x 100mm for the handle of the chair command: REC- select the base point & click dimension & give as 55mm & 100mm
Copy it to other side so that both handles are formed.
Fillet the corner of rectangle by 50mm command: O- give the fillet radius as 50mm & select the two lines & trim off the unwanted line.
Move the chair & place it such a way that it touches the offset 200mm circle. By using command: M- select the base point & move it.
Mirror the chair to the opposite side, command: MI
Rotate the chair & move it so that the chair in left side is created command: RO- select the base point, mirror the chair so as to create chair in right side.

3). Sketch the part plan for the toilers and utilities room. Consider the outer wall thickness as 300mm and inner wall thickness as 150mm. Also, assume the missing dimension, Texts, dimensions, and hatches are only for references. Also, symbols for toilets and w/c are also for references.
PROCEDURE
Toilet and Utility room:
New sheet-Units-decimal-precision 0.00 meter & OK.
Drawing utility room;
Draw as offset of 300mm from the left side of vertical construction line & an offset of 150mm from the bottom horizontal construction line.
Draw an offset of 2100mm upwards & offset of 1900mm towards the right side & give the wall thickness of 150mm 7 300mm respectively.
Drawing DH Toilet
Draw an offset of 1700mm upwards & wall thickness of 300mm as it is the external wall & a room if formed.
Trim off the rest of construction lines.
Create opening for doors
From toilet, after offset of 100mm, give another offset of 832mm & trim to form the door opening by creating 12.5mm hinge & then draw circle to the midpoint of other side of wall, trim off the rest of circle to form an arc.
Draw window of 728mm in the utility room & a ventilator of 631mm in toilet room.
Draw the duct shown behind the toilet room by offset at a distance of 201mm & 150mm wall thickness upwards. Extend the wall of toilet towards it & offset 402mm, offset wall thickness as 150mm. fillet the corners of the room.
Drawing utility symbols:
In the command line enter: DS & select home utility- select the symbols by dragging them into AutoCAD screen wherever required.
RESULT:
- The Layout of a Residence Plan is drawn.
- The Seating Plan for an Outer Canopy is drawn.
- The plan for the Toilet & Utility room is drawn
