Creating a Layout, Section and Elevation with dimensions using AutoCad

AIM:

Creating a layout, section & Elevation with dimensions using AutoCAD

.

OBJECTIVE:

To draw the given sketch of layout, section & Elevation with detailed drawing using AutoCAD.

Commands used:

Polyline/Line, Multi-text/Text, Offset, Extend, Fillet, Mirror, Trim, Move, Rotate, Hatch, Annotate.

INTRODUCTION:

Plan and sections are different types of drawings used by architects to graphically represents a building design and construction.

A plan drawing is a drawing on a horizontal plane showing a view from above.

An Elevation drawing is drawn on a vertical plane showing a vertical plane.

A section drawing is also a vertical plane but one that cuts through space showing what lies within.

1). 1st, 2nd and 3rd FLOOR PLAN:

PROCEDURE

Step-1: New Sheet-Units-Decimal-precision 0.0 millimeter & OK.

Step-2: First using command: REC Rectangle > 3100 x 3100 to create bedroom-1

Command: O Offset, 125 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 3225 x 3200 to create bedroom 2

Command: O Offset, 230 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 2550 x 2525 & 3250 x 3775 to create Drawing/Dining

Command: O Offset, 125 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 1250x2400 & 1250 x 2400 to create Toilet-1 & 2

Command: O Offset, 150 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 3000 x 3225 to create bedroom 3

Command: O Offset, 230 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 4475 x 2950 to create Living/Dining

Command: O Offset, 150 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 3225 x 3050 to create bedroom 4

Command: O Offset, 150 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 4475 x 2863 to create Drawing/Kitchen

Command: O Offset, 150 mm

Command: REC Rectangle > 3100 x 3300 to create bedroom 5

Command: O Offset, 230 mm to outer wall with attached 1375 x 1150 balcony.

Command: REC Rectangle > 3175 x 3000 to create bedroom 6

Command: O Offset, 230 mm to outer wall with attached 1000 width Verandah.

Command: REC Rectangle > 3300 x 2888 to create bedroom 7

Command: O Offset, 125 mm to towards toilet wall.

Command: REC Rectangle > 2275 x 1225 to create Toilet-3.

Command: O Offset, 150 mm towards Dining/kitchen.

Command: REC Rectangle > 6600 x 2550 to create Drawing/Kitchen/Dining

Command: O Offset, 230 mm

Step-3: Command: REC Rectangle > To create Columns 600x230mm locate the column location as shown in given sketch, & specify the column layers.

Step-4: Command: PL Polyline, using this to create staircase width 1200mm & Thread=250mm

Step-5: Draw the windows and doors with the sizes are shown in below table.

Sl.No:

WINDOWS

SIZES

1.

W1

900 x 1200 mm

2.

W - staircase wall window

600 x 1200 mm

3.

W2 - bedroom

1000 x 1200 mm

4.

W3 – Drawing/Kitchen/Living & bedroom

1500 x1200 mm

5.

W4 - Toilet

500 x 500 mm

Sl.No:

DOORS

SIZES

1.

D

1000 x 2100 mm

2.

D1

700 x 2100 mm

3.

D2

900 x 2100 mm

Finally, we indicate the rooms using the Command: T TEXT

Again, we have to provide the dimensions for the given floor plan using the dim linear command.

Draw the section lines as given in the sketch section A & B.

2). SECTION A-A:

PROCEDURE

Step-1: New Sheet-Units-Decimal-precision 0.0 millimeter & OK.

Step-2: First draw the line with the length of 8900mm horizontally forward

Next draw another line from the previous line vertically with the length of 1mm

Next draw again the line from the previous line with the length of 11000mm horizontally backwards from the previously drawn line,

Next draw the line from the first line & the last line we drawn previously.

Next do the offset to the particular lines with the given offset values

The inner wall offsets are 125mm & outer wall thickness is 250mm

GL thickness is 200mm & 150mm

Next we have to draw the windows in their requires places in 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors.

Step-3: Here next we have to draw the stairs with thread of 250mm & riser 142.75mm & 158.33mm.

Take the line type as dashed lines for the staircase.

Next we have to draw the remaining parts, we draw the parapet wall & water tank (O.H.T) the top of the building,

Step-4: Next we draw the doors at their required places in the first, second & third floors.

Step-5: Next we draw the windows & sunshades in their particular places

Next we have to select layers & make them to the different colors for different parts in the section, as shown in sketch.

Next we put dimensions where ever they are required in the section drawing as shown.

Next we have to select the single text command to indicate the parts in the section plan. Finally we have to draw the section line in the section plan as shown below.

3). SECTION B-B:

PROCEDURE

Step-1: New Sheet-Units-Decimal-precision 0.0 millimeter & OK.

Step-2: First draw the line with the length of 11000mm vertically forward.

Next we have to draw another line from the previous line horizontally with the length of 16723mm.

Next we have to draw another line from the previous line with the length of 11000mm vertically backwards from the previously drawn line.

Next draw the line from the first line & the last line we drawn previously

Next do the offset to the particular lines with the given offset values.

The inner offsets are 125mm & outer wall thickness is 250mm, GL thickness is 200mm & 150mm,

Step-3: Next we have to draw the windows in their required places in 1st, 2nd & 3rd floors.

Next we have to draw the sunshades in the upside of the window to protect from the sunlight. We have to select the different colour layers for different parts in the section plan as shown below.

Next we put dimensions where ever they are required in the section drawing as shown.

Next we have to select the single text command to indicate the parts in the section plan. Finally we have to draw the section line in the section plan as shown below.

RESULT:

  • The 1st, 2nd & 3rd floor plan created using proper dimension Techniques are drawn successfully in the AutoCAD in detailed manner.
  • The Section A-A created using proper dimension Techniques are drawn successfully in the AutoCAD in detailed manner.
  • The Section B-B created using proper dimension Techniques are drawn successfully in the AutoCAD in detailed manner.
