Creating a Layout, Section and Elevation with dimensions using AutoCad
| CREATING A LAYOUT, SECTION AND ELEVATION WITH DIMENSION USING AUTOCADD |
AIM: To Draw The Plan, Elevation and Section Of The Building by Using AutoCAD
INTRODUCTION:
Dimensioning in AutoCad:
- AutoCAD Provides a whole range of dimensioning tools which can be used to quickly dimension any drawing without the need for measurement.
- AutoCAD dimensions are special blocks which can be easily edited or erased as necessary.
- AutoCAD divides dimensions into four main categorries: ;inear, radial, reegular an ordinate.
Dimensioning in AutoCad:inear dimension commands:
- These are used to dimension along straight lines.
- There are five linear dimension commands, namely: DIMLINEAR, DIMCONTINUE, DIMBASELINE, DIMALINGNED, DIMROTATED.
- DIMLINEAR command is probably the most commonly used dimension command.
- This tool can be evoked from toolbar, pull down-->dimension-->Linear: keyboard Command: DIMLINEAR.
Continue dimension command:
- This command can be used to add a string of dimensions which aligns perfectly.
- This tool cab be evoked from toolbar; pulldown-->dimension--> baseline; Command: DIMCONTINUE.
- First we have to DIMLINEAR command, the rest can be continued using DIMCONTINUE command.
Baseline dimension command:
- This tool can be evoked from toolbar; pulldown-->dimension-->Aligned: Command: DIMALIGNED.
- This command is used to creat aligned dimensions. These are dimensions along inclined lines which cannot be dimensioned wuith the DIMLINEAR.
- DIMCONTINUE and DIMBASELINE commands can be used in conjuction with DIMALIGNED dimensions.
Radial dimension command:
- There are mainly two radial dimension commands, DIMRADIUS and DIMDIAMETER.
- Both commands result in a similar looking dimension, so AutoCAD automatically inserts a R to indicates radius and the dimension symbol(%%c) to indicate dimension.
Diameter dimension command:
- This tool can be evoked from toolbar; pulldown-->dimension-->diameter; Command: DIMDIAMETER.
- Diameter command can be used to annotate a circle or an arc.
- To achieve this simply start the command, pick a point fon the circumference of the circle, pick second point to determine the length of the leader and then add the dimension text.
Rdius dumension command:
- This tool can be evoked from toolbar; pulldown-->dimension-->diameter-->radius Command: DIMRADIUS.
- This command is identical to the diameter command except that the dimension is radius and theresulting dimension is prefixed with "R" to indicate radius.
Angular dimension command:
- This tool can be evoked from toolbar; pulldown-->dimension--> Angular; Command: DIMANGULAR.
- This command is flexible and can be used to indicate an angle in almost any situation.
Ordinatre dimension command:
- This tool can be devoked from toolbar: pulldown -->dimension--> leader; Command: DIMORDINATE.
- This command is uised to annotate co-ordinate points with X or Y points.
- This may be useful for setting out onsite plans.
Annotation with leaders:
Leader command:
- This tool can be evoked form toolbar; pulldown-->dimension--> leader; Command: LEADER.
- This command is used to annotate any point on a drawing.
Dimension edit command:
- Command: DIMEDIT.
- Command is used to modify and change the text any number of dimensions.
Dimension text edit command:
- This tool can be evoked form toolbar; pulldown-->dimension--> align text-->options; Command: DIMTEDIT
- This command is used to modify the text position of aby single dimension.
Dimension update command:
- This tool can be evokedd from toolbar; pulldown-->dimension-->update; Command: DIM UPDATE.
- This command is used to apply the current dimension style to exsiting dimensions.
DEFAULT PROCEDURE:
- Open AutoCAD application form my desktop.
- Click file menu to open new sheet.
- Slect default setting as METRIC
- Indefalut setting click on use a wizard and in that advacne setting and set unit as decimal and precision as 0 and press next
- Set Angle as Decimal Degree and precision as 0.
- Set Angle Measure as EAST and press NEXT
- Ser Area by providin as DEFAULT 12 X9
- Press finish
- Keep ortho Obh=ject snap>ON
- Keep Snap and Grid > off
PLAN:

Aim: To creat the plan and section as given by using proper dimension techniques and dimension style.
Step by Step Procedure:
- Initially set the units of the drawing as Decimal (Millimeters).
- Now, set the limits of the drawing:
- Specify the lower left corner:(o,o)
- Specify the upper right corner:(40000,52000)
- Now, choose the XLINE command
- Put xline horizontal anbd xline vertical
- Trim the negative co-ordinates
- Give the offset of 250mm to Show the external wall thickness
- Offset the horizontal line at a distacne of 1150,3138,4488,9463,12788,12913,16388.
- Give offset to each above horizontal lines as per their wall thickness
- For internal wall give offset of 125mm And for external wall give offset of 250mm
- Offset the vertical line at a distance of 3475,3675,5975,6850,7350,8725,10325,11700.
- Give offset ot each above vertical lines as per their wall thickness
- For internal wall give offset 125mm ND FOR ECTERNAL WQALL GIVE OFFSET OF 250MM
- Give the another required offsetrs by using offse command
- Leave the spaces for doors as per its dimension
- Take trim and erase command to remove the unwanted data as shown below
For Doors:
- D-100
- D1-700
- D2-900

For window:
- W-1000
- W1-900
- W2-1100
- W3-1300
- W4-550

- Take a rectangular command
- Specify its first corner anywhererr out of drawing
- Select dimension as Lenght as 250 and with as 400
- And take HATCH command to click dropdown , select the style AR CONCR
- Click inside the rectangle
- It will show you following result with dimension.

- Now put the coloumn to where required place in plan as given below the dig.
- For Sunshade selet the dash layer
- Click the line type >Other
- Load >select ACAD_ISO3W100
- Enter Use line command to show the window shade as whown below.

Annotation:
- To creat the text and dimention by useing Annotation style and Font Name Height scale.
- Final Diagram with TEXT, DIMENSION, bY using annotation are given below:

- Now provide colours to plan by using following layer properties for all three plans, Section-AA, and Section-BB as shown in below

Result: Here the final result of fthe PLAN Shown in below:
- For the clear view of the diagram is given below:
*****************************************************************************
SECTION:-AA
- Inorder to draw the section, by projection of using Xline command and elevate the parts through which the given section cuts.
- Choose line command and draw the out line of the section as per the dimension given in the figure
- Staircse section is also drawn using line command: sraircase connecting groundfloor and 1st floor has riser dimension 150mm and treaddimension is 250mm.

- Now the section is complete by providing necessasryb text and dimension by using Annotation method like above plan

- Now apply to colours for every line and text, dimension by using layer properties.
- Here as same layer properties are using to aplly the diagram

Result: Here the final result of fthe SECTION-AA Shown in below:
- For the clear view of the diagram is given below:

*****************************************************************************
SECTION:-BB
- Inorder to draw this section, choose XLINE command (Hrizontal ) and elevate the elements side ways from the section given in the plan.
- Now to creat the outline of the section and then trim iff the unwanted lines.

- Now, comolete the figure by providing necessasry texts and dimension by using Multitext, And Annotation methods.

- Now apply to colours for every line and text, dimension by using layer properties.
- Here as same layer properties are using to aplly the diagram

Result: Here the final result of fthe SECTION-AA Shown in below:

- For the clear view of the diagram is given below:
