Aim: To draw a 3D isometric view of the building as shown in the figure.

Introduction:

A plan view of wall of two elevation views of windows on both sides are given and they are to be converted into a 3D model. 2 window openings on both sides are given with details regarding the frame dimensions, mullion dimensions handle height .Thickness of bottom floor and top roof are also given as 4" and 6" respectively .The height of floor is given as 10'.Height of window from the flooris 3'.

Procedure:

 Open AutocaD

In startup settings from scratch select imperial (Feet and Inches)

Open grid and snap settings

  • Change snap and grid spacing to 1'
  • Change major line every grid line to 10
  • Turnoff adoptive grid

Type 'UN' in command box and press enter.

Change units type to decimal and precision to 1'1/16" and insertion scale to inches

Change the workspace setting of Autocad from Drafting and annotation to '3D modeling'

Step 1: Creating Layers

Open layer propoties and create new layers by cliking on new layer or right click on any layer and select new layer to create new layer

Layers are created as follows

sStep 2:Creating Layers

Change the current layer to 3D wall

  • Create a rectangle of dimensions 10'9"*10'9" at any point on the screen
  • Offset the rectangle to inside to distance of 9" as wall thickness
  • Delete the left and bottom lines and extend them to the edges as shown in figure

Change the current layer to 3D_Window_Frame

  • draw the window with dimensions 3'2" at top and 3' on right side as shown in figure.

Step 3:Creating 3D view

Change the view to 3D by clicking on home button of view cube

Set UCS as world

  • Create the boundaries for the walls using 'BO' command
  • Extrude the boundaries created to total height of 10'10"
  • Select all the wall and use group command to group then togather

  • Draw rectangles at both windows and change them to boundaries using boundary command
  • Extrude both rectangles drawn to height of 3'4" as shown in the figure
  • Draw rectangles at top of both window openings and change them to boundries using boundary command

Type UCS and click on face and select the face having 3' wide window

  • Draw a rectangle from bottom part of window with dimensions @3',4'

Type UCS and click on face and select the having 3'2" wide window

  • Draw a rectangle from bottom part of window with dimensions @3'2",4'

Change the ucs back to world

  • Extrude the rectangle drawn at top side to top edge of window
  • Group all the wall components togather

Step 4:Creating Elevation Windows Window at Elevation A

Change the current layer to 3D_Window_Frame

Type UCS and click on face and select the face having 3' wide window

  • Draw a rectangle of dimension  @ 3',4'
  • Offset the rectangle to inside to distance of 3"
  • Offset the offset rectangle to inside to distance of 4"

Start the boundary command and click on pick points

  • Click inside the window frame area and press enter

Start SUBTRACT command

  • Select the bigger region and then select the smaller  regions to subtract them.

Follow the same procedure for all the three boxes as shown in figure

 CHALLENGE:3

 Aim:

To create the isometric 3D view of a stair with railing as shown in the plan and elevation.

 Introduction:

  •  An isometric drawing is a 3D representation of an object, room, building, stairs or design on a 2D surface.
  • One of the defining characteristics of an isometric drawing, compared to other types of 3D representation,is that the final image is not  distorted.
  • This is due to the fact that the foreshortening of the axes is equal
  • In an isometric drawing ,the the objects appears as if it is being viewed from above from one corner, with the axes being set out from this corner point.
  • Isometric drawings beginswith one vertical line along which two points are defined.

 COMMANDS USED:

  • Line command
  • Rectangle command
  • UCS command
  • Dimlinear command
  • Region command
  • Extrude command
  • Subtract command
  • Box command
  • Units command
  • Dimstyle command
  • 3Dface command
  • 3Dorbit command
  • Hide command
  • Explode command
  • Move command
  • Copy command
  • Dist command
  • Solidedit command
  • Union command
  • Boundary command
  • 3Dmirrer command
  • 3Drorate command
  • Erase command
  • Plan command
  • Circle command
  • Sweep command

Procedure:

Step:1

  •  1st we open the autocad and set the maximum limit and minimum limit.
  • Next we set the units as architectural and take the precison as 0'-0"
  • Next we draw the stairs using the line command.
  • We draw the stairs with the riser of 6" and tread of 1' as shown in the below figure.

 Step:2

  •  Next we use the 3Drotate to rotate the figure from the step 1
  • Next we use the extrude command to extrude the rotated figure to form the stair in 3d view.

Step:3

  •  Next we draw the railing using the circle command and sweep command.
  • Next we shoe the stairs in the side view using the 3Drotate command as shown in the below figure.

Step:4

  •  Now put the stair in the 3d isometric view using the 3dorbit command as shown in the below figure.

 Result:

  •  The given 3d isometric view of the stair is drawn successfully in the autocad in detailed manner.

  • Dimstyle command
  • 3Dface command
  • 3Dorbit command
  • Hide command
  • Explode command
  • move command
  • Copy command
  • Dist command
  • Solidedit command
  • Union command
  • Boundary command
  • 3Dmirrer command
  • 3Drotate command
  • Erase command
  • plan command

procedure:-

 Step :-1

  • First we open the autocad and set the maximum limits and minimum limits.
  • Next we set the units as decimal and take the precision as 0.
  • Next we footing with given dimensions as shown in the below figure.

 Step 2:-

  •  Next we draw the 3D isometric view of the wall with spread footing using the extrude command as shown in the below figure.

 Step:-3

  •  Next provide the layers for the wall  with different colours for different parts, as shown in the below figure.

 Step:-4

  •  Next we provide the different materials for the wall with spread footing ,as shown in the below figure.

 Step :-5

  •  We select the camera and put it in the required position and then press enter.
  • Next click on ther camera then the small tab will appears at the top of the left corner ,as shown in the figure.

 Step:6

  •  Finally we select the render option and then slowly it changes the rendering view as shown in the below figure.

 Result:-

  •  The 3D view of a wall withj spread footing and created a rendered view  of the model with materials successfully in the autocad in detail.
