PROCEDURE :

Open AUTO CAD,

In start up settings , start from scractch select imperial ( feet and inches)

Open grid and snap settings

  • changing snap and grid spacing 1'
  • changing major line every grid line to 10
  • turnoff adoptive grid

Step 1:

Creating layers,

Step 2:

  • Create a rectangle of dimensions 10'9"*10'9"
  • offset the rectangle to inside of 9" of wall thickness,

  • delete the left and bottom lines and extend them to the edges as shown in fig,
  • Draw the window with dimensions 3'2" @ top and 3' on right side on shown in fig,

step 3:

Set ucs as world,

  • create the boundaries of the wall using bo command
  • extrude boundaries created to total height 10'10"

  • select the wall and use group command to group together
  • draw rectangle on both windows and change them bounfdaries using boundary command
  • extrude both the rectangle at height 3'4" as shown

  • darw the rectangle @ top of both the window as shown in, change them into boundaries using boundary command

type UCS click on face and select face having 3' wide window

  • darw a rectangle a bottom part of the window with dimensions 3' 4'

type UCS click on face and select face having 3' 2" wide window

  • darw a rectangle a bottom part of the window with dimensions 3'2" 4'

change the ucs back to world,

  • extrude the rectangle drawn #@ top side to top edge of the window
  • group all wall components together

Step 4:

Creation of elevation windows:

Window @ elevation A,

Change the current layer to 3d window frame,

type ucs click on face and select the face having 3' window,

  • draw the rectangle @ 3' 4' , offset rectangle inside distance of 3" & 4",

  • start the boundary commands click on pick points,
  • click inside the window fframe area and press enter,
  • start subtract command ,/ select the bigger region and then the smaller region to subtract them.
  • follow the same procedure for all the boxes,

change the current layer to 3d window glass,

start boundary commands , click on pick points,

  • click inside the window glass area and press enter
  • all the layers are extruded to give window projection look as shown in fig,

Window @ Elevation B,

Change the current layer to 3d window frame,

type ucs click on face and select the face having 3' 2" window,

  • draw the rectangle @ 3' 4' , offset rectangle inside distance of 3" & 4",
  • start the boundary commands click on pick points,

  • click inside the window fframe area and press enter,

  • all the layers are extruded to give window projection look as shown in fig,

RESULT :

Initially all the layers necessary are created with respective line types and line weights ,

the plan view is drawn as shown in step 2, then from step 3 3d view is created with respective layers assigned , the UCS view is changed accordingly to make changes the 3d view and 3d dimensions , boundary command is used for creating region along the boundaries and extrude them , after the view is created the result is shown , the result consists of different views of the 3d model such as TOP VIEW, SW isometric VIEW , NE isometric VIEW, Windows .

4. Create the 3D view of a Wall with spread footing . Create the Door opening only. Assume the size of the parpaet and the coping. See the plans and elevation for the details. Also, create a rendered view of the model with materials as of your choice.

AIM :

To draw the 3D view of wall with spread footing as shown in the plan and elevation.

INTRODUCTION :

Aplan view and elevation view of the wall in the spread footing under it are given and they are converted into a 3D model. spread footing is a type of footing which goes along the lenght of the wall in the building , it is used as shallow footing type, plan view consists of horizontal dimensions of the footing and the wall, elevation views consists of the vertical dimensions, of different level of footing , height of 230mm thickness wall.

thickness level 1 of footing same as 230mm

copuing thickness of the level 2 is offset the 50mm than the thickness of the wall

thickness of level 3 is ofsset of 50mm then the thickness of level2

thickness of level 4 is offset of 120mm than the thickness of level 3,

PROCEDURE :

Open AUTOCAD,

In start up settings , start from scractch select metric ( meters and mm)

Open grid and snap settings

  • changing snap and grid spacing 100
  • changing major line every grid line to 10
  • turnoff adoptive grid

change the workspace setting from draft and annotation to 3d modelling,

Step 1:

Creating layers,

LAYER ARE CREATED AS FOLLOWS,

step 2:

creating 2D plan view of wall with spread footing,

  • change current layer to the wall
  • darw the rectangle 670*7500
  • offset the rectangle in side the distance 120mm,
  • offset the offset the rectangle the distance 50mm as twice,
  • explode all the offset rectangle,
  • delete top and bottom of the exploded edges,
  • extend all the rectangle to the top and bottom edges of outer rectangle
  • @ the end select the individual lines change the layers,

craeting door block,

  • draw rectangle of dimension 50and 100 mm
  • darw another rectangle of dimension 50*50 mm
  • draw a linwe length of 850 mm from the edge
  • darw an arc line of the door swing,
  • convert the door into block

  • edit the block and add flip parameters
  • create door opening 900mm @ the middle,
  • add the door block by rotating the door
  • add the door shade using respective layers

step 3: Creating elevation view,

  • click on front view on the view cube.
  • change the ucs to the front,
  • cahnge the current layer to g.l
  • darw a line of central length,
  • offset the line to bottom 25mm
  • offset the last offset line bottom to distance of 100mm
  • cahnge the current layer to the wall
  • darw thw rectangle 230*3300 from top left edges of ground level
  • cahnge the current layer to roof level,
    darw roof thickness 150mm
  • draw parapet wall of height 600 mm

Footing layers,

  • Draw thr rectangle 230*600 below the ground level,
  • draw the recatngle 230*400 below thw first level,
  • draw the rectangle 430 * 400 below thw second level,

Change current layer to footing,

draw rectangle dimension 670*300 below thw third level,

trim the unnecessary edges

door ,

change the current layer to the door,

darw line along the length of door 230mm @ the g.l

  • offset the line below the distance of 50mm below the ground level
  • offset the distance 2100 above
  • change the current layuer to the door shade
  • darw the door shade, The end result of teh steps are follows

Step 4:

  • Drawing 3D view of the section , for craeting 3D view initially boundaries are craeted,
  • each boundaries is created with respective layers as current,

  • the created boundaries are extruded to a distance of 7500 mm
  • select the boundaries by creating the respective layers,
  • door opening is added by drawing the rectangle @ the door location from the plan view
  • then from extruded part the door region is subtracted
  • similarly door shade is created with the opening above
  • after door shade remaining layer is extruded

Step 5:

Rendering:

rendering is done by adding materials the 3d view

  • material browser is used for adding materials to object,
  • materials added for the component from the material browser as shown below ,
  • box mapping is done to adjust the texture of the wall

Lights:

  • Torch light is placed in front of the door, @ central distance with fall of angle 50 and hotspot angle as 80
  • Distant light is also used.

Creating views:,

RESULTS :

The results consists of different views of the 3D model, such as

  • view 1 (top view)

  • view 2 ( right side view)

  • view 3 ( SW Isometric)

Hidden view,

  • view 4 ( cam front door view)

  • Rendered view
