Challenge 7 : Concept Modelling of Steering Wheel

Acknowledgement

I would like to thank skill-Lync for giving me such a wonderful opportunity for extend my knowledge for my own branch and giving me guidelines to present project report.it helped me lot to realise of what we study for.

Introduction

Autodesk Alias (formerly known as Alias Studio Tools) is a family of computer-aided industrial design (CAID) software predominantly used in automotive design and industrial design for generating class A surfaces.

Autodesk alias designing features

  • It responsible for making a surface area of the cars with help of CV and EP curves.
  • It is mainly for explore that surface with help of diagnostic shades.
  • We can control those the curves through CV’S with help of control panel.
  • We can make whatever we want through the curves with help of
  • ALIAS models can have colours and surface colours.
  • In ALIAS we can able to import images to workspace and making a map of the materials through the image

MODEL OF THIS PROJECT.

  • Making of steering wheel of Mercedes Benz

AIM

To making of Modelling steering

PROCEDURE

DRAWING COMMANDS USED IN THIS MODULE

CV AND EP CURVE

In top of alias workspace on that row having a WINDOW option

Click that WINDOW option

Further it will open row of options contains a PALETTE option.

It contains lot of options but we have to go CURVE option

In that second option is cv and ep curve command

From point: (pick a point in mouse)

To point: (pick a point in mouse)

EXTEND

On that palette option.

In Down having an option is OBJECT EDIT.

Further we have click extend command

[This command is mainly used for extend and shrink of the curves.]

Click end of the curve and then extend or shrink is possible.

BLEND

On the palette option

We have to go CURVES option.

Then we have to right click Blend command.

There will be open Blend options.

Further we have to click New option.

From point: (pick a point in mouse) on one end of the curve.

To point: (pick a point in mouse) on the one end of the other curve.

[This command is mainly used for making a blend curve on the end of the curves]

And after you creating a blend curve.

There is Edit option present click that option. We want to tight that curve is possible.

DISPLAY COMMANDS USED IN THIS MODULE.

LAYER

The Layers menu is used to create, delete and manage layers, which are displayed in the Layer Bar at the top of the screen, just below the menus. If you do not see it,

And click new option on the layer

Further it will create layer on the layer bar.

Now we have to create 4 layers for assign the image of the view of car. because

we want place all those image assign on it.And we have to give as per the views.

For example:

In this module

I gave separate layers for curves and three kind of surfaces.

After we completed the curve structure means assign those curves in separate layer .

ALIGN

On the palette option

We have to go object edit option

Then we select the ALIGN option.

Why we use align command means.

Align the curve or a surface with help of the G0.G1,G2, And tangently.

That the reaon for using align command.

`

I already gave a name for the layer as BUMBER CURVES.

Then we have to make DETACH for the rim structure

DETACH

On the palette option

We have to go object edit option

On the first option attach but we want detach.

Right click on that attach option it will project DEATACH OPTION.

Then we have to click the two ends of the curve

PROJECT AND TRIM

On the palette option

We have to go Surface edit option.

On the 1st option is PROJECT.

Select the surface for trim. And click trim option then we have selected the curve structure for trimming.

Then it will project the curves on the surface.

On the palette option

We have to go Surface edit option.

On the 2ND option is TRIMM.

Select the unwanted area through the guide lines on the surface.

Then it will trim out the areas.

UNTRIM

On the palette option

We have to go surface edit option

On the 2nd option is TRIMM

But we want untrim so we have to right click on the trim option

It will show the UNTRIMM option.

This is mainly used create part after trimmed portion.

INERSECT

On the palette option

We have to go Surface edit option.

On the 1st option is PROJECT.

We want intersect means right click on the project option.

It will open another option bar here intersect option is there.

This command is mainly used for intersect two surfaces.

It makes the guide line on the surface then we trimmed out the unwanted area.

SYMMETRY

After completing the surface, the one ofsteering part means we have to make another side.

That’s why we have to use symmetry command.

Entire surface select assign in one layer then we make symmetry of those surface.

we need have to give.

Finally give GO. It will make duplicates on the workspace.

These are all commands were used on curve structure car bumper making.

I will continuously make a geometric of those surface for quick completion.

SYMMETRY

Symmetry is nothing but it makes mirror of those layer in the curves.

SURAFCE COMMANDS

SKIN

On that palette option.

In Down having an option is SURFACE.

This command which it is making of surface

between horizontal or vertical curves.

And it is making of surface with or without crown.

RAIL

This command also making of surface but it makes with

help of rail and generation.

And it makes surface with any direction of the curves.

SQUARES

This command also making of curves but having many differences

from other commands that is makes surface within the four boundaries

at having different continuity of the surface

Thus, the commands were used for making a surface of steering wheel

And I add some diagnostic shades for those surfaces.

Then I will give symmetry of those surface. It will make wholeof the steering wheel .

RESULT

Thus, the curve structure of car steering wheel is completed. With help of given canvas image of car. Thanking you for giving an extradentary opportunity for making this surface structure.
