Challenge 5 : Concept Modeling of Car Bumper
Title of the Project: Abarth 500 front and rear bumpers
The objective is to create the rear bumper using the steps the front bumper was created in the video.
The design methodology was to create the wheel arche curves and create a skin surface between them. Then the big swooping surface of the bumper part going from the middle of the car to the wheel arches. I copied the swooping surface curve to create the upper swooping surface of the bumper. Then proceeded to creating the transition curves and surfaces that blend the wheel arch to the upper swooping surface. I then trimed out the difuser cut out and added the smaller surfaces for more detail in the area. I then proceeded to create the cut out of the vent detail. Surfaces of the trunk and 3 quarter rear panel were created to assist in getting the desired final shape of the bumper as the surfaces were used as guides or to intersect with the bumper surfaces. Finally the fillet surfaces were added and ironed out for the wash outs to be present.
The tools used in this excersise were CV curve, Blend curve, Skin tool, Square tool, rail and bi-rail tools, MS draft tool, align, project, intersect, trim, un-trim and surface fillet tool.
