Benchmarking

  • What is Benchmarking? In a simple word benchmark means before making anything compare with existing product of yours or competitors , make changes on that as per cusomer demand or convienient to use by increase the standards.
It looks simple but same time it requires investment of time, money and others effords to make applicable products. And also, after developing product it must be closely match with other competitors.
It starts with gathering informations on internal basis then followed by current scenario, what it should be and gap in performance.
In the Benchmarking, it involves a structural comparison between similar products, services, and processes on some dimensions of performance.
From this, it is easy to eliminate process gap and discovering the best achievable performance.
Particularly in automobile manufacturing industry, it involves manufacturers and primary purpose is to make a positive impact on internal processes.
It also improves the innovation, quality of product, sales, find the best standard of performance base and workplace organizations.
One of the most important uses of benchmarking is, it helps all businesses to understand all competitors collectively rather than comparing with one by reviewing their methods, operations for standards and performance.
It requires time, product quality, cost, and customer experience.
For successful benchmark, you must determine areas within your workplace that require improvement, use effective research methods to find information, and review effective benchmarking techniques.
    Vehicle Comparison.
    1. Now a days Electric cars are invade petrol cars progressively. Even some Europian countries also give subsidies to buy those cars.
And if we discussing about electric cars and we don't talk about tesla its gonna be unfair because Tesla is among one electric car company who globally famous the EV cars.
But there are some limitation in Tesla's car. Which Mercedeze Overcome in their Latest EQS 2021 Model.
They first did benchmarking on Lithium battery and range of travelling in single charge.
Mercedeze make next generation Lithium battery which is same size and weight but create more energy which 107.7KW.
They also increase the carrying capacity which is 2480Kg which is 160kg more than Tesla model S car.
The cost of Mercedeze EQS is 102,000$ and Tesla modes S price is 107,200$.
In conclusion, after TESLA introducing EV car in market and accepted globally as a new generation cars mercedeze jump in to market by overcome those standards by making some new advance technology or change from petrol to EV which helps them to be in Global Market.
    2. The other example which I would like to talk about is Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
Those two cars has almost same function and all but because of some more advance technology and feature Creta become first choice of custmore.
Creta focus more on Engine performance, while seltos more focus on features.
Even the price gap is small between those two car.
Seltos is bit bigger, wider and taller compare to creta.
In this case, Creta did more benchmarking on performance rather than provide feature in lights, seats, space and overall dimension.
In a case study of Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii
In that case, I choose two car under 10 lakhs which is TATA NAXON and MARUTI CIAZ as per my point of view.
Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii can find both car in budget. In ciaz, it is spacious and share the segment in many session.
Meanwhile In Naxon, it comes with quality, better look and loaded-safety package.
Both car have almost same features and performance.
In the conclusion, I would go with Tatat Naxon. One of the reason is good milege. Now a days petrol price increase Tatat Naxon road average is 2105km/L on road and 18.5km/L in city.It has better space and low maintenance which are the face which we have to consider after buying car.
