Benchmarking
1. Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for the following case.
Monthly Kms including Madhurai return and office in Bangalore = 1000 + (30*22) = 1660= 1700Kms (Approx). For the cost of the vehicle, I am assuming on road price to be considered. Also assuming Pughazhyendhii comes from a middle-class family, so he will be using this car for 5-7 years. Having decent Km running every month and will use the car for 5-7 years, a diesel car will be more economical to DSP.
| Dzire VDI | Amaze S Diesel | Venue 1.2 S | Ertiga Vxi | Tigor XZ Plus Diesel | Xcent SX | |
| Price (Lakh) | 9.08 | 9.39 | 8.63 | 9.88 | 9.78 | 9.73 |
| Type | Compact Sedan | Compact Sedan | Compact SUV | MUV | Compact Sedan | Compact Sedan |
| Mileage (Kmpl) | 22-28 | 20-25 | 15-18 | 16-19 | 18-22 | 18-22 |
| Safety Rating Out of 5 |
3 | 4 | 4 | 3 | 4 | 4 |
| Maintenance cost(Rs) (5 years) |
24000 | 28000 | 18000 | 27000 | 50000 | 18000 |
These are the cars I think will come in DSP\'s budget and also serve the purpose. My recommendation is to go for Honda Amaze. It has a decent safety rating, good mileage, and enough space for 5 people and luggage. The service cost of Amaze is 28000 for 5 years which is quite economical as well.
If DSP is looking for a bigger car in that budget then the options are very limited. In that case, the new Hyundai Venue is definitely an option to consider. He can get a good petrol model in that price bracket.
Objectives:
1. Benchmark with presently available cars in the market for the following case.
Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.
Note: Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars
2. Prepare a report explaining what is Bench-Marking
3. Compare at least 4 vehicles.
4. Provide a proper conclusion for the report, suggesting a single suitable vehicle among the comparison made with images.
BENCHMARK :
Benchmarking is a process of measuring the performance of a company products, services,or processes against those of another business considered to be the best in the industry, " best in class". The point of benchmarking is to identify internal opportunities for improvement. By studying companies with superior performance possible, and then comparing those processes to how your business operates, you can implement changes that will yield significant improvements.
That might mean tweaking a product's features to more closely match a competitor's offering, or changing the scope of services you offer, or installing a new customer relationship management (CRM) system to enable more personalized communications with customers.
There are two basic kind of improvement opportunities, thats are
- Continuous improvement
- Dramatic improvement
Continuous improvement
Continuous improvement is incremental, involving only small adjustment to reap sizable advances.
Dramatic improvement
Dramatic improvement can only come about through re-engineering the whole internal work processes.

I recommend ford eco sport, because of the better millage of this segment. Ford eco sport is good to build quality and design. This car is better riding in the city driving.
